Learning object-centric representations from unsupervised videos is challenging. Unlike most previous approaches that focus on decomposing 2D images, we present a 3D generative model named DynaVol-S for dynamic scenes that enables object-centric learning within a differentiable volume rendering framework. The key idea is to perform object-centric voxelization to capture the 3D nature of the scene, which infers per-object occupancy probabilities at individual spatial locations.

The term metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has been proposed based on a redefinition of the nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) criteria. Our study aimed to address the knowledge gap by comparing the diagnostic accuracy of MAFLD and NAFLD criteria in identifying significant fibrosis among patients with hepatic steatosis. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 2626 patients with hepatic steatosis treated at Beijing Ditan Hospital between January 2009 and December 2022.

This study explored the pathogenesis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and monkeypox co-infection, identifying candidate hub genes and potential drugs using bioinformatics and machine learning. Datasets for HIV (GSE 37250) and monkeypox (GSE 24125) were obtained from the GEO database. Common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in co-infection were identified by intersecting DEGs from monkeypox datasets with genes from key HIV modules screened using Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA).

Article Synopsis
  • - Saffron, derived from the C. sativus plant, contains crocin, which has potential therapeutic effects including anti-depressant and anti-cardiotoxic properties, though its neurotoxicity effects are less studied.
  • - The research investigates crocin's ability to protect against neurotoxic effects induced by arsenic trioxide (ATO) using a mouse model, showing a significant reduction in neuronal death and oxidative stress damage after crocin treatment.
  • - Findings suggest that crocin promotes brain tissue recovery and reduces inflammatory markers, indicating it may combat ATO-induced neurotoxicity through the activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the impact of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) on significant fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), aiming to determine if those with both conditions face a higher risk.
  • A total of 1818 patients were analyzed, revealing that those with CHB and MASLD exhibited significant fibrosis at rates of 35.5%, compared to 23.5% in those with just CHB.
  • The findings suggest that MASLD is linked to increased fibrosis in CHB patients, especially for those with three or more cardiometabolic risk factors, highlighting the importance of early detection and intervention.

Introduction: In November 2021, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron variant was identified as the variant of concern and has since spread globally, replacing other cocirculating variants. To better understand the dynamic changes in viral load over time and the natural history of the virus infection, we analyzed the expression of the open reading frames 1ab (ORF1ab) and nucleocapsid (N) genes in patients infected with Omicron.

Methods: We included patients initially admitted to the hospital for SARS-CoV-2 infection between November 5 and December 25, 2022.

Background: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), as the most common complication of herpes zoster (HZ), is very refractory to current therapies. Studies of HZ have indicated that early aggressive pain interventions can effectively prevent PHN; therefore, accurately predicting PHN in outpatients with HZ and treating HZ promptly, would be of great benefit to patients. Multiple logistic regression (MLR) has often been used to predict PHN.
