MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are noncoding RNAs that regulate the expression of target genes after transcription, and play important roles in the differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells. Many miRNAs are related to the occurrence of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and play roles in the treatment response. Recently, we demonstrated that several miRNAs are differentially expressed in patients with relapsed and newly diagnosed APL; for example, miR-140-3p is significantly downregulated in patients with relapsed APL.

Background And Hypothesis: It is unclear whether dietary vitamin E and tocopherol isoform intake is associated with health outcomes in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). We hypothesize that different dietary tocopherol isoforms have different health effects in people with CKD. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the association between dietary vitamin E and tocopherol isoforms and risks of CKD progression and all-cause mortality in patients with CKD.

Over the past decades, numerous studies have suggested that exercise can mitigate neurodegenerative processes by improving mitochondrial function.

In the United States, a biopsy at the time of organ procurement is often used to assess kidney quality to decide whether it should be used for transplant. This assessment is focused on renal fibrotic burden, because fibrosis is an important measure of irreversible kidney injury.

Tang Dynasty people in Fudamen cemetery () excavated from Shandong province in eastern China are believed to be related to the descendants of Hu people, as some of the individuals with the surnames An (). The genetic origin of the Fudamen population requires genetic clarification using ancient DNA data.

We aimed to identify candidate plasma proteins for SLE risk in women, discover potential treatment targets for SLE, and develop and validate a protein-based prediction model for SLE risk.
Methods: 28 220 women from the UK Biobank were randomly split into training (70%) and testing (30%) sets.
Background & Problems: Oral administration is the most common mode of medical treatment for pediatric patients. Although over 98% of the patients in the targeted pediatric unit require oral medication, the oral administration adherence rate in 2022 was 43.9%.

There exists a close relationship between liver fibrosis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). Prolonged progression of liver fibrosis may ultimately lead to cirrhosis, thereby increasing the risk of developing HCC. Current research is exploring non-invasive methods for assessing liver fibrosis.

Background: To explore the association of social isolation with venous thromboembolism (VTE) risk and the mediating role of metabolomics on this association.
Methods: Overall, 236 026 participants free of VTE and with complete metabolomics data at baseline from the UK Biobank were included. Social isolation was constructed based on the frequency of friend/family visits, weekly group activities, and living alone.
Background: We aimed to develop and validate a protein risk score for ischemic stroke (IS) risk prediction and to compare its predictive capability with IS clinical risk factors and IS polygenic risk score.
Methods: The prospective cohort study included 53 029 participants from UKB-PPP (UK Biobank Pharmaceutical Proteomics Project). IS protein risk score was calculated as the weighted sum of proteins selected by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression.
In this study, a series of SrLuAl(BO):Sm red phosphors were successfully prepared with a high-temperature solid-phase technology. The Rietveld refinement analysis of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) diffraction patterns indicated that the as-prepared phosphors belong to the R3¯ space group of the hexagonal crystal system. Under 404 nm near-ultraviolet excitation, the SrLuAl(BO):Sm phosphor exhibits narrowband emission within the range of 550 to 750 nm.

This abnormality is more common among MDS patients with concurrent Behcet's disease (BD) than among patients with MDS alone. This comorbidity is also associated with a higher prevalence of intestinal ulcers.

Methods: We selected candidate items from the ULV-VFQ-150, considering the item response among ultra-low vision (ULV) participants, the even distribution of item measures, visual aspects, and visual domains, to construct a 50-item ULV-VFQ-50 questionnaire. Then, ULV participants were recruited to evaluate its psychometric characteristics by using Rasch analysis.
As environmental issues are hotly debated worldwide, finding suitable materials to replace petroleum-based materials as the next-generation packaging materials has become a research hotspot. Nanocellulose, as a biomass material widely available in nature, is favored for application in green packaging materials due to its environmentally friendly and bio-friendly characteristics. However, the unstable mechanical properties and strong hydrophilicity of nanocellulose limit its practical application in packaging materials.

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) present a sustainable solution by generating self-powered electricity to fulfill these requirements. In this study, we synthesized zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) in situ on the surface of titanium carbide (TiCT) to create TiCT/ZIF-8, grafted it onto cellulose diacetate via tetraethyl orthosilicate, and ultimately developed a cellulose-based nanofibrous membrane through electrospinning, combining it with a negative triboelectric material to construct a self-powered TENG-based mask.

Functional gradient materials with material property anisotropy are one of the hotspots of current new material research. The gradient change of material properties comes from the change of the content of one or more components in the material, which is closely related to the preparation process of the material. Meanwhile, polysaccharide materials, as an environmentally friendly and green material, have attracted extensive attention from researchers.
