Association of trabecular meshwork height with steroid-induced ocular hypertension.

It is important to identify at-risk patients prior to administering steroid injections to prevent avoidable irreversible blindness inducted by steroid-induced ocular hypertension (SIOH). We aimed to investigate the association of SIOH following intravitreal dexamethasone implantation (OZURDEX) using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT). We conducted a retrospective case control study to assess the association between trabecular meshwork and SIOH.

Periodontal disease and cancer risk: A nationwide population-based cohort study.

Background: Although emerging evidence suggests that periodontitis might increase the risk of cancer, comorbidity and lifestyle behaviors, such as smoking and body mass index (BMI), may have confounded this reported association. This study aimed to investigate whether chronic periodontitis is associated with cancer risk using a large, nationwide database.

Methods: We conducted a population-based, retrospective cohort study using data from the Korean National Health Insurance Cohort Database obtained between January 2003 and December 2015.

The most significant factor for endothelial cell loss should be readily identified, since prevention is the most crucial treatment. Here, we investigate risk factors for corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) decline following Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) implantation and determine the optimal cut-off values. This study included 103 eyes (95 patients) with glaucoma that underwent AGV implantation between January 2006 and January 2021 at a single medical center (Severance Hospital).

Long working hours are associated with unmet dental needs in south Korean male adults who have experienced dental pain.

Backgrounds: We explored the association between working hours and unmet dental needs among adults who have experienced dental pain, and how this relationship varied by demographic and lifestyle factors.

Methods: We used the data of 9594 adults who reported dental pain from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) V and VI. We conducted a logistic regression analysis to determine the association between working hours and unmet dental needs, followed by a subgroup analysis and Cochran-Armitage trend tests.
