Haemophilus parasuis is a widespread bacterial pathogen causing acute systemic inflammation and leading to the sudden death of piglets. Resistin, a multifunctional peptide hormone previously demonstrated to influence the inflammation in porcine, was extremely increased in H. parasuis-infected tissues.
