Maxillary Sinus Lifting is a crucial surgical procedure for addressing insufficient alveolar bone mass andsevere resorption in dental implant therapy. To accurately analyze the geometry changesof the bone graft (BG) in the maxillary sinus (MS), it is essential to perform quantitative analysis. However, automated BG segmentation remains a major challenge due to the complex local appearance, including blurred boundaries, lesion interference, implant and artifact interference, and BG exceeding the MS.

Parents' genetics influence the environments of their offspring; these two modes of inheritance can produce a genetic nurture effect, also known as indirect genetic effects. Such indirect effects may partly account for estimated genetic variance in T2D.

Materials And Methods: Patients with tooth agenesis were screened by whole-exome sequencing (WES) from January 2010 to September 2023.
Background: Blood pressure (BP) time in target range (TTR) reflects the proportion of time that BP measurement is within a specified target range. We aim to summarize the evidence for relationships between TTR and adverse health outcomes.
Methods: Seven databases were searched.
Accurate segmentation of the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) within Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) images is critical for the precise planning of oral and maxillofacial surgeries, especially to avoid IAN damage. Existing methods often fail due to the low contrast of the IAN and the presence of artifacts, which can cause segmentation discontinuities. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel approach that employs Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) curve shape priors into a multiscale attention network for the automatic segmentation of the IAN.

Although pleiotropic genetic variants of these two diseases have been reported, their underlying pathological mechanisms are still unclear. Leveraging GWAS summary data and using genetic correlation, pleiotropic variants identification, and colocalization analyses, we identified 11 colocalized loci for CVDs-CeVDs-BP (blood pressure), CVDs-CeVDs-LIP (lipid traits), and CVDs-CeVDs-cIMT (carotid intima-media thickness) triplets.

However, the current planning still heavily relies on manual interventions, which is labor-intensive, experience-dependent, and poorly reproducible. Therefore, we propose ZygoPlanner, a pioneering efficient preoperative planning framework for zygomatic implantation, which may be the first solution that seamlessly involves the positioning of zygomatic bones, the generation of alternative paths, and the computation of optimal implantation paths.

Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of bleeding on probing (BOP) for peri‑implantitis detection on implant- and patient-levels, as reported in prospective and retrospective studies with at least 5 years of follow-up.
Materials And Methods: A systematic search of 3 electronic databases was conducted and supplemented with a hand-search to identify clinical studies that reported the prevalence of peri‑implantitis and BOP after at least 5 years of functional loading. Random-effects meta-analyses were conducted to combine the proportions of peri‑implantitis among BOP positive implants and patients across studies.
Cancer, as a global health threat, is often treated with chemotherapy, but its effect is limited, especially the drugs such as doxorubicin (DOX) are limited by their non-specificity and side effects. This study focuses on developing a new drug delivery system to overcome these challenges. Based on the self-assembling peptide hemopressin (HP), we designed and screened FOK peptide, which serves as a pH-responsive carrier with excellent pH sensitivity and mechanical stability.

Methods: Fifty patients who underwent full-arch implant fixed restoration in the Department of Second Dental Center of Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital from January 2016 to July 2023 were selected. Patient's medical history, CBCT, and three-dimensional facial scan data were collected before and after restoration.
Aim: This first randomized controlled trial in humans aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of low-dosage Escherichia coli-derived recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (ErhBMP-2)-incorporated biomimetic calcium phosphate coating-functionalized β-TCP (ErhBMP-2/BioCaP/β-TCP) as a novel bone substitute using the tooth-extraction-socket-healing model.
Materials And Methods: Forty patients requiring dental implants after single-root tooth extraction were enrolled in this study and randomly assigned into three groups: ErhBMP-2/BioCaP/β-TCP (N = 15), β-TCP (N = 15) and natural healing (N = 10). New bone volume density from histomorphometric analyses was evaluated 6 weeks post-operatively as the primary outcome, and other histomorphometric analyses, alveolar bone and soft-tissue changes were the secondary outcomes.

Objectives: To evaluate and compare the accuracy of task-autonomous robot-assisted implant surgery (RAIS) and dynamic computer-assisted implant surgery (dCAIS) for zygomatic implant placement.
Materials And Methods: Ten atrophic edentulous maxilla models requiring zygomatic implant (ZI) placement were randomly divided into the RAIS and dCAIS groups. Osteotomies and implant placement were performed under the guidance of a task-autonomous robotic system or dynamic navigation system.

Objective: To delve into the intricate relationship between common genetic variations across the entire genome and the risk of non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P).
Methods: Utilizing summary statistics data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS), a thorough investigation to evaluate the impact of common variations on the genome were undertook. This involved assessing single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) heritability across the entire genome, as well as within specific genomic regions.
Background/purpose: Pterygoid implant is a promising solution for patients with a partially or fully edentulous atrophic maxilla. However, whether dynamic navigation system will improve the accuracy of pterygoid implant surgery is still unknown. This study aimed to compare the accuracy of dynamic navigation and free-hand approaches in pterygoid implant placement in completely edentulous maxilla models.

Methods: We included 2,415,573 individuals with a prescription record for BZDs or Z-hypnotics in the Beijing Medical Claim Data for Employees database during 2010-2017, and 8,794,356 non-users with other prescriptions for the same period. Hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated using Cox proportional risk models for 712,850 exposed and 712,850 unexposed participants who were matched 1:1 by propensity score.
Dynamic navigation-guided zygomatic implant (ZI) surgery has been a preferred option for achieving optimal prosthetic-driven implant placement. However, during the actual surgical procedure, surgical execution may still be hindered by environmental factors such as mouth opening. A fully digital planning protocol is described that integrated the patient's maxillofacial soft tissue information and virtual surgical handpiece with the drills on the implant planning path to ensure the precise, time-saving, and smooth implementation of dynamic navigation-guided ZI surgery.

Little is known about the impacts of specific chemical components on cardiovascular hospitalizations. We examined the relationships of PM chemical composition and daily hospitalizations for cardiovascular disease in 184 Chinese cities. Acute PM chemical composition exposures were linked to higher cardiovascular disease hospitalizations on the same day and the percentage change of cardiovascular admission was the highest at 1.

Objective: To explore the association between polymorphisms of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling pathway and non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P) among Asian populations, while considering gene-gene interaction and gene-environment interaction.
Methods: A total of 1 038 Asian NSCL/P case-parent trios were ascertained from an international consortium, which conducted a genome-wide association study using a case-parent trio design to investigate the genes affec-ting risk to NSCL/P. After stringent quality control measures, 343 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) spanning across 10 pivotal genes in the TGF-β signaling pathway were selected from the original genome-wide association study(GWAS) dataset for further analysis.
