Article Synopsis
  • The study demonstrated that nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) enhances the removal of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) when used with manganese (Mn(II)) and peracetic acid (PAA).
  • It was found that NTA forms a complex with Mn(II), which helps activate PAA, leading to the production of reactive species that degrade SMX.
  • The research identified four degradation pathways for SMX and suggested that the reaction is most effective under acidic to neutral conditions, with higher concentrations of PAA, Mn(II), or NTA improving the degradation process.

  • Whole-slide image (WSI) classification in computational pathology is challenging due to its high resolution and scarcity of detailed annotations, making it difficult to extract precise instance-level information from broader labels.
  • To enhance instance importance estimation, a new method using Shapley values from cooperative game theory is proposed, which improves the accuracy of identifying crucial instances while speeding up the computation using attention mechanisms.
  • The proposed framework also focuses on progressively assigning pseudo bags to promote balanced attention distributions in multiple-instance learning (MIL), demonstrating superior performance in experiments on several datasets compared to existing methods, with plans to release the code upon acceptance.

Dissolved copper and iron ions are regarded as friendly and economic catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation, however, neither Cu(II) nor Fe(III) shows efficient catalytic performance because of the slow rates of Cu(II)/Cu(I) and Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycles. Innovatively, we observed a significant enhancement on the degradation of organic contaminants when Cu(II) and Fe(III) were coupled to activate PMS in borate (BA) buffer. The degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B (RhB, 20 µmol/L) reached up to 96.
