Article Synopsis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a disease where the body attacks its own joints, causing pain and damage, but a treatment called Extracorporeal Photopheresis (ECP) has shown promise with fewer side effects.
  • In a study, researchers tested ECP on mice with a type of RA created by injecting collagen, and they monitored how the mice reacted to the treatment over time.
  • The results showed that ECP helped reduce the symptoms and damage from RA in the mice by changing immune cell levels, making it a potentially safer treatment option.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists studied how stable the front of a tunnel is when it's made of clay-like soil that gets stronger as you go deeper.
  • They looked at two main problems: when the tunnel front collapses and when it blows out, which means it pushes out too much.
  • They came up with new equations that help quickly figure out how stable the tunnel can be and found that these equations work better than older methods.

Classical molecular dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the motion of a-type edge dislocations in wurtzite aluminum nitride (AlN). The nucleation and propagation of kinks are observed via the dislocation extraction algorithm. Our simulation results show that the nucleation energy of the kink pair in AlN is 1.
