Objective: To unravel the effects of different laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs (IHRs) on inflammatory factors, oxidative stress, and postoperative recovery of inguinal hernia (IH) patients.

Methods: A total of 88 patients for laparoscopic treatment of IH were studied in a retrospective cohort, and were randomized into the transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) repair group (n = 44) and the total extraperitoneal (TEP) repair group (n = 44) according to the method of treatment. Patients in the TAPP group underwent laparoscopic TAPP IHR, while patients in the TEP group underwent laparoscopic TEP IHR.

Rationale: Transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is a rare congenital malformation with a high rate of misdiagnosis and mistreatment before operation, which cannot be diagnosed even during operation due to lack of knowledge.

In this study, we report a highly sensitive electrochemical immunosensor for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) detection based on the electrodeposited platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) confined in the ultrasmall nanochannels of vertically ordered mesoporous silica film (VMSF). VMSF bearing amine groups (NH-VMSF) can be prepared on the indium tin oxide electrode surface via a one-step co-condensation route using an electrochemically assisted self-assembly method, which renders a strong electrostatic effect for [PtCl] and leads to the spatial confinement of Pt NPs inside the silica nanochannels after electrodeposition. The external surface of NH-VMSF is functionalized with CEA antibodies using glutaraldehyde as a coupling agent, resulting in an electrochemical immunosensing interface with good specificity for CEA detection.

In this study, we explored the adaptive mechanism of two varieties of exposed to enhanced Ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation. The radiation had different effects on the biomass, photosynthetic performance, oxidative damage, antioxidant defense system, and levels of bioactive compounds of Mingui 1 (C1) and Mingui 2 (C2). C2 outperformed C1 under enhanced UV-B radiation, compared to natural light.

4-coumarate coenzyme A ligase is a key enzyme of phenylpropanoid metabolic pathway in higher plant and may regulate the biosynthesis of ferulic acid in Angelica sinensis. In this study, the homology-based cloning and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) technique were used to clone a full length cDNA encoding 4-coumarate coenzyme A ligase gene (4CL), and then qRT-PCR was taken for analyzing 4CL gene expression levels in the root, stem and root tissue at different growth stages of seedlings of A. sinensis.
