Skeletal muscle exhibits remarkable plasticity in response to diverse stimuli, with exercise serving as a potent trigger. Varied exercise modalities, including moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT), induce distinct structural and functional adaptations on skeletal muscle. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms governing these adaptations remain poorly understood.

In this study, we assessed the protective potential of moderate intensity continuous training (MICT) against high fat diet (HFD)-induced kidney injury and found that MICT could significantly reduce obesity indexes (body weight, serum glucose, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol) and kidney injury indexes (serum creatinine and the expression of 1 mRNA) in HFD-fed mice. PAS staining and Masson staining displayed that MICT maintained the morphological structure of kidney subunits and reduced kidney fibrosis in HFD-fed mice.

Methods: The mice in the Control (Con) and Control + Exercise (Con + Ex) groups received a standard chow diet for the 21-week duration of the study, while the High-fat diet (HFD) group and High-fat diet + Exercise (HFD + Ex) group were fed an HFD. Mice were acclimated to the laboratory for 1 week, given 12 weeks of being on their respective diets, and then the Con + Ex and HFD + Ex groups were subjected to moderate intensity aerobic treadmill running 45 min/day, 5 days/week for 8 weeks.
Hypertension is usually accompanied by the impairment of organs and arteries, and seriously threatens human health. Aerobic exercise can effectively prevent and treat hypertension. However, the mechanism of exercise therapy in hypertension is still unclear.

Exercise could alleviate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but it was not clear which exercise methods could effectively treat NAFLD. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of different exercise patterns on eight indicators in patients with NAFLD. We searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and the Wanfang Data from its inception to 30 June 2020.

Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) and β-Klotho (KLB) play an important role in preventing and treating overweight and obesity. However, it is unclear what conditions promote FGF21 and KLB expression in different tissues. Therefore, we studied expression of FGF21 and KLB with respect to two exercise regimes: moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) (two popular strategies in weight loss).

The novel gene editing technology focuses on the field of artificial nuclease cleavage technology, mainly ZFN technology, TALEN technology, CRISPR technology and base editing technology. The continuous improvement of gene editing technology has promoted the rapid development of agriculture, animal husbandry and biomedicine, but at the same time, technical defects and ethical controversy have brought enormous challenges to its own development.
