Article Synopsis
  • Hypochlorite (ClO) is a reactive oxygen species that plays a crucial role in the immune system and is linked to various diseases, making its monitoring important for clinical diagnostics.
  • A new fluorescent probe called DCP-ClO was created, which has specific properties like strong ClO selectivity, near-infrared emission, and low toxicity, making it effective for real-time ClO detection.
  • DCP-ClO has shown great promise in measuring ClO levels in both water samples and living organisms, suggesting its potential as a valuable tool for studying ClO in complex biological environments.

Development of new near-infrared fluorophores is one of the eternal themes in the field of biosensing and biological imaging. In this work, we constructed a novel fluorophore platform MOR by replacing methylindole of hemicyanine fluorophore (CyR) with benzoxazole to acquire better fluorescence characteristics. Based on the platform, a near infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe was synthesized for the specific "off-on" response to carboxylesterase 2 (CES2).
