Article Synopsis
  • A 64-year-old woman developed a rare post-operative complication known as chylous leakage after undergoing a modified radical mastectomy for grade II breast cancer.
  • The complication was identified when there was a significant increase in fluid drainage around the chest wall and axilla five days after surgery, with chylous leakage occurring on the eighth post-operative day.
  • Treatment involved injecting meglumine diatrizoate and elemene, which helped resolve the leakage 18 days after surgery, highlighting a potential management approach for this rare condition.

The spatial arrangement of biochar and the exact underlying interaction mechanisms of biochar and hydrophobic organic compounds both remain largely unknown. The sorption of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and phenanthrene (PHE) to plant- and manure-derived biochars in both single- and bi-solute systems was investigated. The significant positive relation between surface polarity and ash content suggests that minerals benefit the external distribution of polar groups on particle surfaces.
