Objective: Apurinic endonuclease 1 (APE1) has been suggested as an oncogene of lung tumours and our bioinformatics analysis identified the association between Erlotinib resistance and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Thus, we performed this work to delineate the mechanistic actions of APE1/IL-6 signalling in Erlotinib resistance of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: We selected human NSCLC cell lines HCC827 and PC9 to establish Erlotinib-resistant HCC827R and PC9R cells.

Background: Some driver oncogenes are still unknown in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). DNAJC19, a major component of the translocation machinery of mitochondrial membranes, is a disease-associated protein. Herein, we report the role of DNAJC19 in NSCLC cell growth and metastasis.

In this study, two fluorescence conjugated microporous polymers based on perylene tetraanhydride bisimide (DPA and DPA) were prepared Sonogashira-Hagihara cross-coupling polymerization for the efficient detection of -nitrophenol (-NP). They were well characterized FT-IR, solid state C NMR, elemental analysis, and other material characterization techniques. The experiments proved that both CMPs possess high thermal and chemical stability and a porous nature with Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas of 41.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out the activity and molecular mechanism of NF-kB subunits in cervical cancer which in turn were used as a molecular marker in diagnosing cancer progression.

Methods: Different cervical cancer biopsies were obtained from patients after obtaining proper written consent and approval, which were subjected to immunohistochemistry. Performed were Western blot analysis and electrophoretic mobility shift assays.

Background: The aim of this work was to study the Fabp4 and Pten gene expression and correlation in the liver, muscle, and adipose tissues of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) rats.

Material And Methods: Male Wistar rats (8 weeks old) were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=12/group): a control group fed a normal diet for 8 weeks and an experimental group fed a high-fat, high-sugar diet for 8 weeks and that received 25 mg/kg streptozotocin by intraperitoneal injection to induce T2DM. The random blood glucose, fasting blood glucose, and fasting insulin levels were measured.

Based on the statistical calculation of industrial pollution charge, an extended shift share analysis method was employed to study the regional industrial pollution growth in Jilin Province, and the preferred action for regional industrial ecological transition was discussed from a view point of pollution treatment. The results could be summarized as follows: 1) Proportional shift could suggest some ways to promote industrial ecological transition from the aspect of industrial organization, while differential shift can provide some enlightenment for pollution treatment in terms of technology. The variation coefficients of proportional shift and differential shift at regional scale are 15.

Objective: To analyze the prevalence and characteristics of metabolic syndrome (MS) in the patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) of different genders who underwent revascularization.

Methods: The clinical data of 2596 patients in the DESIRE (Drug-eluting Stent Impact on Revascularization) study who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) were analyzed and the patients were followed up till death. MS was diagnosed based on the Chinese standard (modified ATP III).

Mono-disperse CdSe nanoclusters have been prepared facilely and functionalized with l-cysteine through two steps by using safe and low cost substances. They are water-soluble and biocompatible. Especially these functionalized quantum dots can be stably soluble in water more than for 30 days, and the intensity of fluorescence and absorbance was decreased less than 15% of fresh prepared CdSe colloids.

Highly luminescent uncoated water-soluble and mono-disperse CdSe nanoparticles (NPs) have been prepared facilely. Uncoated CdSe core NPs possessing a good size distribution was accompanied with long wavelength of fluorescence emission. It is interesting to note that these functionalized NPs are soluble in water medium stably for more than 1 month, and no significant changes were found in the optical characteristics in comparison with fresh CdSe NPs prepared.

Background: People with metabolic syndrome are at higher risk for developing coronary artery disease (CAD). The effect of the metabolic syndrome on outcomes in patients with preexisting CAD has not been well studied. This study was conducted to assess the prevalence, characteristics, in hospital and long term prognosis of CAD with metabolic syndrome and to determine the factors influencing the prognosis of the disease.

Objective: To investigate the influence of initial admission department for coronary arteriography on the choice of mode of coronary revascularization.

Methods: From October 2003 to June 2004 2156 patients with coronary heart disease were admitted into the department of internal medicine (1667 cases) or department of surgery (489 cases) to undergo coronary arteriography (CAG) and coronary revascularization. The influence of the initial admission departments on the choice of mode of coronary revascularization for the patients with different clinical manifestations and angiographic characteristics, including one-vessel disease, two-vessel disease, three-vessel disease, and multi-vessel disease of different types was analyzed.

A novel mercury-doped silver nanoparticles film glassy carbon (Ag/MFGC) electrode was prepared in this study. Electrochemical behaviors of cysteine on the Ag/MFGC electrode were investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The results indicated that cysteine could be strongly adsorbed on the surface of the Ag/MFGC electrode to form a thin layer.
