- The study examined the presence of arsenic (As), iron (Fe), and manganese (Mn) in core sediments from the anoxic Danshuei Estuary using a five-step extraction process.
- Higher concentrations of As were noted in the middle and lower parts of the estuary, primarily consisting of amorphous and poorly-crystalline forms and well-crystallized oxides of Fe and Al.
- The research indicated that the sediment's geochemical behavior, particularly the concentration of dissolved As in pore water, is significantly affected by redox potential and serves as a source of dissolved As with specific diffusion rates.
