Vascular remodeling plays a vital role in hypertensive diseases and is an important target for hypertension treatment. Irisin, a newly discovered myokine and adipokine, has been found to have beneficial effects on various cardiovascular diseases. However, the pharmacological effect of irisin in antagonizing hypertension-induced vascular remodeling is not well understood.

Article Synopsis
  • Sepsis can cause serious liver dysfunction, leading to high mortality rates, and there are currently no specific treatments for this condition.* -
  • Prim-O-glucosylcimifugin (POG), a compound from Saposhnikovia divaricata, shows potential in protecting the liver during sepsis by inhibiting a specific pathway related to inflammation (NLRP3 inflammasome).* -
  • Experiments demonstrated that POG reduced liver damage and mortality in septic mice, comparable to the effects of ibuprofen, indicating its ability to mitigate sepsis-induced liver injury.*

Two new phenylpropanoid glycosides elucidated as 2,6-dimethoxyphenyl-4-propylene-1---D-apiofuranosyl-(1-6)--D-glucopyranoside () and 2-methoxyphenyl-4-propylene-1--D-apiofuranosyl-(1-6)-D-glucopyranoside (), along with three known phenylpropanoid glycosides (-) were isolated from Mountain Cultivated Ginseng. The structures of compounds - were elucidated on the basis of comprehensive spectroscopic data including 1D, 2D NMR spectra, and MS. In addition, in vitro cytotoxicity of all the isolated compounds was evaluated against HELA cell.

Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose ((18)F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging demonstrated the change of glucose consumption of tumor cells, but problems with specificity and difficulties in early detection of tumor response to chemotherapy have led to the development of new PET tracers. Fluorine-18-fluorothymidine ((18)F-FLT) images cellular proliferation by entering the salvage pathway of DNA synthesis. In this study, we evaluate the early response of colon carcinoma to the chemotherapeutic drug, lipo-Dox, in C26 murine colorectal carcinoma-bearing mice by (18)F-FDG and (18)F-FLT.
