Patients with liver metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) have a poor prognosis and are the leading cause of death in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, but the mechanisms associated with CRC metastasis have not been fully elucidated. In this study, we obtained data from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and characterized the single-cell profiles of CRC, mCRC and healthy samples at single-cell resolution, and explored the cells that influence CRC metastasis. We find that AQP1 CRC identified as highly malignant tumor cells exhibited proliferative and metastatic characteristics.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a global health concern, particularly affecting women and children of reproductive age. Although oral iron supplements are the standard treatment for IDA, their bioavailability is often compromised by food interactions, and they are associated with significant gastrointestinal side effects. To overcome these limitations, we developed a novel iron nano-supplement, TA-Fe NPs, based on metal-polyphenol networks (MPNs) formed through the coordination of tannic acid (TA) and Fe.

The colonies exhibited diameters ranging from approximately 1 to 3 mm and were characterized by a creamy-white coloration, circular shape, smooth texture, translucency, and a convex profile. The cells were facultatively anaerobic and motile, utilizing a single polar flagellum for movement.

However, the effect of low-protein diets on dialysis patients compared to pre-dialysis patients remains unclear. This study aims to compare residual renal function among dialysis patients following a low-protein diet versus a normal diet, offering valuable insights into the optimal nutritional strategy for preserving residual renal function.

However, the actual catalytic efficiency of MIIT is often limited by the random valence states of metal ions and scattered space. Herein, copper-iron bimetallic sulfide nanoparticles coated with bovine serum albumin (CFS NPs) are synthesized through metal ion valence modulation strategy.

Although the genetic and cellular aspects of spermatogenesis have been extensively studied, the underlying metabolic mechanisms remain largely underexplored. In this study, we utilized STA-PUT technology to separate three key cell types involved in mouse spermatogenesis: pachytene spermatocytes (PAC), round spermatids (RS), and elongated spermatids (ES).

Viral infections are ubiquitous, and their prevention and treatment have become a great challenge. Steroids have different biological activities, including antiviral activity, which is related to steroid structural diversity. With the intensive study of steroids, it has been found that steroids can interfere with almost any step of the viral life cycle to exert antiviral activity.

However, no national survey has been conducted to characterize its epidemiology in hospital settings in China. We conducted the China Nutrition Fundamental Data 2020 project among a multistage stratified cluster sample of adult inpatients from 291 study sites across 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities (except for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Province, and the Xizang Autonomous Region, please see MATERIALS AND METHODS for details of the causes) of China to generate reliable data on the prevalence of malnutrition and explore the associated risk factors.

Methods: Through single-cell RNA sequencing, a unique ONECUT2TFPI GC cell subset was identified in the oxaliplatin-resistant TME.
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of daily digital therapeutics (DTx) on the risk of rapid axial elongation (RAE) in children with amblyopia using data from clinical settings.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Participants: One thousand three hundred ninety-four children 3-to-12 years of age with amblyopia, 477 of whom received DTx.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between fixation stability deficits in anisometropic amblyopia and various visual functions, as well as the underlying retinal structure.
Methods: All 164 patients with anisometropic amblyopia were recruited in this cross-sectional study. The contrast sensitivity function (CSF) was measured using the qCSF method, whereas the MP-3 microperimeter was used to assess fixation stability and locate the preferred retinal locus.

Objectives: Dietary supplements have gained attention among people with diabetes as an alternative and complementary treatment, yet there is a limited understanding of supplement use and the motivations behind it.
Methods: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from the 2009-2020 period were analyzed, including data on 5784 people with diabetes aged 20 years or older. Dietary supplement use was self-reported.
Atractylone is a sesquiterpenoid compound extracted from . As one of the main active components in the volatile oil of the genus, it has exhibited certain therapeutic effects, including anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, antiallergic, antiangiogenic, and neuroprotective activities, among others. With further research on the chemical constituents and pharmacology of sesquiterpenes, research on the antitumor activity of Atractylone has also been further expanded.

Consequently, anti-HER2-targeted therapy has emerged as a principal strategy in the treatment of this form of breast cancer. Pyrotinib, a novel irreversible pan-HER2 tyrosine kinase inhibitor, has brought fresh hope to patients with advanced HER2+ breast cancer.

Premature ovarian failure (POF) is among the primary causes of ovarian dysfunction that severely affects women's physical and mental health. The main purpose of this study was to explore the expression level of Nerve growth factor-induced protein B (Nur77/NR4A1) in cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced POF. We then tested whether Nur77 can exert a protective effect after CTX treatment and investigated the mechanism of Nur77's role during ovarian injury.
