Luminescent Cu complexes are an important class of coordination compounds due to their relative abundance, low cost and ability to display excellent luminescence. The title CuIPS-type binuclear complex, di-μ-iodido-bis[(thiourea-κS)(triphenylphosphine-κP)copper(I)], [CuI(CHNS)(CHP)], conventionally abbreviated as CuITPPTU, where TPP and TU represent triphenylphosphine and thiourea, respectively, is described. In this complex, each Cu atom adopts a CuIPS four-coordination mode and pairs of atoms are connected to each other by two μ-I ligands to form a centrosymmetric binuclear cluster.

We surveyed a total of 2,230 adolescents using three different questionnaires to assess the severity of their mobile phone addiction, stress, anxiety, depression, psychological resilience, and personality. Latent class analysis was employed to identify the subgroups, and we utilized Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves and multinomial logistic regression for statistical analysis.

High-throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) of surgically removed tumors has been used to identify new biomarkers of lung cancer; however, contamination by non-tumor cells in the tumor microenvironment significantly interferes with the search for novel biomarkers. Tumor organoids, as a pre-clinical cancer model, exhibit similar molecular characteristics with tumor samples while minimizing the interference from other cells.

The cancer stem cell (CSC) theory suggests that CSCs with dysregulated self-renewal and asymmetric cell division serve as a source of intra-tumoral heterogeneity. This heterogeneity complicates the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients, because CSCs can give rise to aggressive clones that are metastatic and insensitive to multiple drugs, or to dormant tumor cells that are difficult to detect.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) pathway, which is well studied for its ability to inhibit cell proliferation in early stages of tumorigenesis while promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition and invasion in advanced cancer, is considered to act as a double-edged sword in cancer. Multiple inhibitors have been developed to target TGF-β signaling, but results from clinical trials were inconsistent, suggesting that the functions of TGF-β in human cancers are not yet fully explored. Multiple drug resistance is a major challenge in cancer therapy; emerging evidence indicates that TGF-β signaling may be a key factor in cancer resistance to chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

In this paper, we present a novel unsupervised saliency detection approach by exploiting the grouping and compactness characteristics of the high-level semantic features. First, for the high-level semantic feature, the elastic net based hypergraph model is adopted to discover the group structure relationships of salient regional points, and the calculation of the spatial distribution is constructed to detect the compactness of the saliency regions.

Methods: Premenopausal women who underwent surgical treatment between 2012 and 2016 at one Italian and one Chinese institution participating in a medical exchange program were compared. Factors associated with the probability to receive mastectomy were determined via logistic analysis.
Background: Diabetes is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). We conducted a retrospective analysis of adenoma detection rates (ADR) in initial screening colonoscopies to further investigate the role of diabetes in adenoma detection.
Methods: A chart review was performed on initial average risk screening colonoscopies (ages 45-75) during 2012-2015.

Methods: NANOG was expressed from a lentiviral vector, pLVX-IRES-ZsGreen. NANOG hHF-MSCs and vector hHF-MSCs were treated with 400 μmol/L hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 2 h, the cell survival rate, cell morphology, ROS production, apoptosis and expression of AKT, ERK, and p21 were determined and compared.
Centrosomes control cell motility, polarity and migration that is thought to be mediated by their microtubule-organizing capacity. Here we demonstrate that WNT signalling drives a distinct form of non-directional cell motility that requires a key centrosome module, but not microtubules or centrosomes. Upon exosome mobilization of PCP-proteins, we show that DVL2 orchestrates recruitment of a CEP192-PLK4/AURKB complex to the cell cortex where PLK4/AURKB act redundantly to drive protrusive activity and cell motility.

Here, we identify NUAK2 as a YAP/TAZ activator that directly inhibits LATS-mediated phosphorylation of YAP/TAZ and show that NUAK2 induction by YAP/TAZ and AP-1 is required for robust YAP/TAZ signaling. Pharmacological inhibition or loss of NUAK2 reduces the growth of cultured cancer cells and mammary tumors in mice.

The results indicated that the appearances of the different states of intercellular connection were physiological adaptation to the development of garlic clove during storage. Ectodesmata-like existed at the wall boundary between the declining tissue and the living cells in the garlic during germination period.
