Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is currently a widespread chronic illness, and its development is influenced by nutrients. Selenium plays a crucial role in the intervention and therapy of various chronic illness. In this study, we aimed to investigate the connection between dietary selenium intake and CKD in adults in the United States.

Objective: To investigate the possible mechanism of lncRNA GA binding protein transcription factor beta subunit 1 antisense RNA 1 (GABPB1-AS1) in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (CI/R) injury.

Methods: RT-qPCR was applied to determine GABPB1-AS1 expression in oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) cells. The targeting relationships between GABPB1-AS1 and miR-641, as well as between miR-641 and nuclear casein and cyclin-dependent kinase substrate 1 (NUCKS1) were examined by dual luciferase reporter assay.

Background: Previous studies suggested that chronic kidney disease (CKD) might contribute to hearing loss and tinnitus. Patients with CKD are often at risk of sudden onset hearing loss and tinnitus; however, few epidemiological investigations have been conducted on this topic. The purpose of this investigation was to analyze the correlation between hearing loss, tinnitus, and CKD based on information obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

Due to the chelation of phosphorus in the soil, it becomes unavailable for plant growth and development. The mechanisms by which phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria activate immobilized phosphorus to promote the growth and development of woody plants, as well as the intrinsic molecular mechanisms, are not clear. Through the analysis of microbial communities in the rhizosphere 16S V3-V4 and a homologous gene encoding microbial alkaline phosphomonoesterase (phoD) in phosphate-efficient (PE) and phosphate-inefficient apple rootstocks, it was found that PE significantly enriched beneficial rhizobacteria.

Background: Chinese patent medicine is commonly used in China as an important treatment mechanism to thwart the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 3-5, among which Niaoduqing granules are a representative Chinese patent medicine; however, its long-term efficacy on CKD prognosis remains unclear.

Methods: Patients were grouped according to Niaoduqing granule prescription duration (non-Niaoduqing granule (non-NDQ) group vs Niaoduqing granule (NDQ) group). Serum creatinine (SCr) variation was compared using a generalized linear mixed model (GLMM).

Introduction: Oxidative stress status is associated with CKD; however, few studies have investigated this association. The oxidative balance score (OBS) reflects systemic stress status and consists of 16 anti-and pro-oxidant dietary factors and four anti-and pro-oxidant lifestyle factors. Higher OBS implies exposure to more antioxidants.

The micronutrient iron plays a crucial role in the growth and development of plants, necessitating meticulous regulation for its absorption by plants. Prior research has demonstrated that the transcription factor MxZR3.1 restricts iron absorption in apple rootstocks; however, the precise mechanism by which MxZR3.

Tomato DWARF14 regulates the development of roots, shoot branches and leaves, and also plays a role in photosynthetic pigment accumulation and photosynthetic capacity. Strigolactones (SLs) are a novel class of plant hormones. DWARF14 (D14) is the only SL receptor identified to date, but it is not functionally analyzed in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum).

Plants have developed complex mechanisms to adapt to changing nitrate (NO3-) concentrations and can recruit microbes to boost nitrogen absorption. However, little is known about the relationship between functional genes and the rhizosphere microbiome in NO3- uptake of apple rootstocks. Here, we found that variation in Malus domestica NO3- transporter (MdNRT2.

DNA methylation plays an important role in regulating tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruit ripening. Although SlDML2, a DNA demethylase (DML) gene, is critically involved in tomato fruit ripening, little is known about genes that regulate its expression. Using yeast one-hybrid screening, we identified a High Mobility Group A protein, named SlHMGA3, and demonstrated its binding activity to the AT-rich region of the SlDML2 promoter.

Extensins (EXTs) are major protein components in plant cell walls that play crucial roles in higher plants. The function of EXTs has been reported in several plants but is limited in tomato, especially in fruit ripening. In this study, we identified 83 EXTs in tomato, and divided them into seven groups.

Trauma, infection, cancer, and congenital diseases can lead to bone defects. The combination of 3D printing with biomaterials is of great significance in the treatment of bone defects. In addition, pulse electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) can promote bone regeneration.

Bone homeostasis is a dynamic balance maintained by bone formation and resorption. An increase in the number and activity of osteoclasts leads to excessive bone resorption, which in turn results in bone disease, including osteoporosis. Therefore, inhibiting the differentiation and activity of osteoclasts is important for maintaining bone mass.

A simple interferometric method is presented for determining the parent radius of curvature (ROC) and conic constant (CC) of a conic surface. This method compares the test surface with a spherical reference wavefront having a ROC equal to the local sagittal, medial, or tangential ROC. The measured wavefront aberrations, particularly the astigmatism and coma, and local radii are used to determine the parent ROC and CC.
