Background: Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common malignancy of the endocrine system and head-and-neck region, yet data on its burden in adolescents and young adults (AYAs) is lacking. This study aimed to estimate the global burden of TC among AYAs from 1990 to 2021.
Methods: Utilizing the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 data, we analyzed age-standardized rates of incidence, prevalence, and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) on global, regional, and national scales.
Objective: To investigate the relationship between first trimester subchorionic hematoma (SCH) and fetal growth restriction (FGR), and to develop a nomogram for predicting the risk of FGR in patients with SCH.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study from January 2021 to December 2021, involving singleton pregnancies that received routine prenatal care since the first trimester at our hospital. We excluded pregnancies loss before 20 weeks and ultimately included 1,055 individuals in the study, dividing them into two groups based on whether they were diagnosed with SCH.
Idiopathic eosinophilia, characterized by unexplained peripheral blood eosinophilia after ruling out secondary causes, is an extremely rare condition. Cryptococcal meningitis is a life-threatening opportunistic infection that primarily affects immunocompromised individuals, such as those with advanced AIDS or leukemia. In this report, we present a unique case of idiopathic eosinophilia concurrent with cryptococcal meningitis, which, to the best of our knowledge, is the first such case described globally.

We conducted a retrospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies from January to December 2021. All patients had routine first-trimester ultrasound scans and were followed up for pregnancy outcomes.

The state-of-the-art triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) technology has numerous advantages and creates new prospects for the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) in marine environments. Here, to accelerate the application process of TENG, an elaborately designed multilayered sleeve-structured hybrid nanogenerator (M-HNG) is developed to efficiently and persistently harvest marine energy. The M-HNG integrates an electromagnetic nanogenerator (EMG) with four coils and a multilayered sleeve-structured TENG (MS-TENG) with three freestanding layer units to increase spatial utilization efficiency.

Here, an elastic self-recovering hybrid nanogenerator (ES-HNG) is proposed for water wave energy harvesting and marine environmental monitoring. The elastic skeletal support of the ES-HNG is manufactured using three-dimensional (3D) printing technology, which is more conducive to the large-scale integration of the ES-HNG.

Here, a highly coupled triboelectric-electromagnetic magnetic-levitation hybrid nanogenerator (ML-HNG) is introduced that shows great potential for water energy harvesting. The ML-HNG fulfills the challenges of high power output, strong coupling, and long operational lifespans.

PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Web of Science, CNKI, and Wanfang databases were comprehensively searched up to January 12, 2024 for studies that compared immediate versus delayed insertion of IUDs after abortion. The evaluation metrics included the number of IUD insertion after surgical or medical abortions, the frequency of expulsion and removal at 6 months or 1 year, the number of continued usage, pain intensity scores, the number of infections, the duration of bleeding, and instances of uterine perforation during or after IUD insertion.

We performed a metabolomics study using parallel liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) combined with multivariate data analysis to screen for biomarkers of primary aldosteronism (PA) from a cohort of 111 PA patients and 218 primary hypertension (PH) patients. Hydrophilic interaction chromatography and reversed-phase liquid chromatography separations were employed to obtain a global plasma metabolome of endogenous metabolites.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate performance of aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) before washout of antihypertensive drugs as a screening test for primary aldosteronism (PA).
Methods: This retrospective analysis included consecutive patients screening for secondary hypertension during a period from January 2017 to May 2022 at the authors' institute. For inclusion in the final analysis, ARR had to be available prior to as well as after discontinuation of antihypertensives.
This study focused on isolating and characterising autochthonous lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from spontaneously fermented Chinese bayberry (CB) and their potential application in CB wine fermentation in co-inoculation with yeast starter cultures. Numerous LAB, including Lactiplantibacillus (Lp.) plantarum (9), Limosilactobacillus (Lb.

Methods: We retrospectively studied the medical records of twin-pregnancy women with asymptomatic cervical dilation or cervical shortening between December 2015 to February 2022 in two hospitals. Data from one center was used to develop the model and data from the other was used to evaluate the model.

Objective: To examine the consistency of plasma aldosterone concentration at 1 and 2 h in the captopril challenge test (CCT) and to explore the possibility of replacing 2-h aldosterone concentration with 1-h aldosterone concentration for diagnosis of primary aldosteronism (PA).
Methods: This retrospective analysis included a total of 204 hypertensive patients suspected of having PA. Subjects received oral captopril challenge at 50 mg (25 mg if the systolic blood pressure was <120 mmHg), and plasma aldosterone concentration and direct renin concentration were measured at 1 and 2 h afterward (chemiluminescence immunoassay Liaison® DiaSorin, Italy).
Introduction: Maternal nicotine use has been suggested to affect the behavior of children and is linked to changes in neurological systems; however, the specific mechanism is yet to be understood.
Methods: Mice were used to establish a maternal nicotine intoxication model. At postnatal day 60 (adolescent stage), male offspring were tested for behavioral tasks including sucrose preference, open field, elevated plus maze, light/dark box, object recognition, Morris water maze (MWM), and forced swimming.
Wine is a highly complex mixture of components with different chemical natures. These components largely define wine's appearance, aroma, taste, and mouthfeel properties. Among them, aroma is among the most important indicators of wine's sensory characteristics.
