Article Synopsis
  • Hodgkin lymphoma (HL)-related hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is under-researched, particularly concerning the factors that trigger HLH in HL patients.
  • A study analyzed 140 patients with HL, finding that 57.9% had mixed-cellularity classic HL and that 5.7% presented with HLH as their initial symptom.
  • The analysis revealed a significant link between intrathoracic infections (ITI) and HLH, especially among mixed-cellularity classic HL patients, with those having ITI showing a higher incidence of HL-HLH; this condition had a poor prognosis, with a median survival of only 2 months.

Patients with subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) are prone to the development of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). It is not known whether small infections in SPTCL patients can trigger the development of HLH. The clinical data were collected from 21 SPTCL patients admitted to our hospital from January 2006 to October 2019.

Ovarian cancer (OC) is highly prevalent and is associated with high mortality rates due to metastasis and relapse. In this study, we assessed the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) small nucleolar RNA host gene 1 (SNHG1) in OC to gain further insight into mechanisms that contribute to its aggressiveness. We analyzed the correlation between SNHG1, miR-454 and zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) using a dual-luciferase reporter assay.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most representative subtype of renal cancer. CircRNA acts as a kind of ceRNA to play a role in regulating microRNA (miRNA) in many cancers. However, the potential pathogenesis role of the regulatory network among circRNA/miRNA/mRNA is not clear and has not been fully explored.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are key regulators or a range of diseases and chronic conditions such as cancers, but how they function in the context of ovarian cancer (OC) is poorly understood. The Coding-Potential Assessment Tool was used to assess the likely protein-coding potential of SNHG7. SNHG7 expression was elevated in ovarian tumour tissues measured by qRT-PCR.

A novel and efficient scandium-catalyzed oxidative reaction between ynamides and alcohols for the facile synthesis of various α-alkoxyl amides is reported in this paper. The reaction avoids the need for the use of α-diazo carbonyls which are unstable and may cause some safety concerns. Instead, by using alkynes as the starting materials, this protocol features readily available substrates, compatibility with a broad range of functional groups, simple procedure, mild reaction conditions, and high chemoselectivity.

Background: It has been suggested that colorectal cancer be regarded as several subgroups defined according to tumor location rather than as a single entity. The current study aimed to identify the most useful method for grouping colorectal cancer by tumor location according to both baseline and survival characteristics.

Methods: Cases of pathologically confirmed colorectal adenocarcinoma diagnosed from 2000 to 2012 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database and categorized into three groups: right colon cancer (RCC), left colon cancer (LCC), and rectal cancer (ReC).

The tumor suppressor gene p53 is often inactivated in breast cancer cells due to gene mutation or overexpression of its repressors (such as murine double minute 2 and murine double minute X). Inhibitors of murine double minute 2 (MDM2) and murine double minute X (MDMX) could lead to tumor suppression by restoration of p53 activity and such an approach is a promising strategy for future control of breast cancer. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of the recombinant MDM2 and MDMX inhibitory protein in control of breast cancer in vitro.
