Introduction: Anemia is a common global health problem, particularly in impoverished regions, with a high incidence rate. The condition is multifactorial, with iron deficiency being one of the most prevalent causes. Current treatment for anemia often relies on iron supplements or erythropoiesis-stimulating agents, although these therapies may show limited efficacy for some patients.

In recent years, probiotics, as a class of biologically active microorganisms, have increasingly attracted attention for their potential in treating neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). To comprehensively assess the effects of probiotics on clinical symptoms and systemic inflammation regulation in various NDDs, this systematic review conducted a detailed search of the Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science databases, ultimately including 22 eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs), with 4 RCTs for Alzheimer's Disease (AD), 10 RCTs for Parkinson's Disease (PD), 2 RCTs for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and 2 RCTs for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and intervention durations ranging from 4 to 16 weeks. The comprehensive analysis indicates that probiotics help improve clinical symptoms related to NDDs, including gastrointestinal function, cognitive function, quality of life, and mental health.

Background: MOTS-c is known as mitochondrial open reading frame (ORF) of the twelve S c, produced by a small ORF-encoded peptides (SEPs) in mitochondrial 12S rRNA region. There is growing evidence that MOTS-c has a strong relationship with the expression of inflammation- and metabolism-associated genes and metabolic homeostasis, and even offering some protection against insulin resistance (IR). However, studies have reported inconsistent correlations between different population characteristics and MOTS-c levels.

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the findings of existing systematic reviews (SRs) and provide scientific evidence on the efficacy and safety of whole-body vibration (WBV) in improving bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women, to provide recommendations and guidance for future high-quality clinical research and SRs.

Methods: We conducted searches in six databases (SinoMed, CNKI, Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science) from the inception of the databases until July 31, 2023. The language was limited to Chinese or English.

Observational studies have linked autoimmune diseases (ADs) with rhinosinusitis (RS) manifestations. To establish a causal relationship between ADs and RS, and to explore the potential mediating role of inflammatory mediators between ADs and RS, we utilized Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Using a two-sample MR methodology, we examined the causality between multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), psoriasis (PsO), type 1 diabetes (T1D), Sjogren's syndrome (SS), celiac disease (CeD), Crohn's disease (CD), hypothyroidism (HT), Graves' disease (GD), and Hashimoto's thyroiditis and their association with chronic and acute rhinosinusitis (CRS and ARS, respectively).

Article Synopsis
  • This review investigates the effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on central post-stroke pain (CPSP), which is a challenging condition to treat.
  • The analysis included six randomized controlled trials with 288 patients, showing that rTMS significantly reduced pain compared to a placebo, although it wasn’t notably more effective than conventional treatments for long-term pain management.
  • While rTMS can help alleviate pain and enhance motor function in CPSP patients, it does not show significant improvements in anxiety, depression, or specific motor response latencies.

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are a group of naturally occurring alkaloids widely present in plants. PAs are highly hepatotoxic and have been documented to cause many incidents of human and animal poisoning. Retrorsine (RTS) is a pyrrolizidine alkaloid (PA) derived from the Compositae Senecio, which has been shown to cause hepatotoxicity.

Introduction: This study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of cerebellar repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in the rehabilitation of post-stroke dysphagia (PSD).

Methods: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, we systematically searched PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the application of cerebellar rTMS in the treatment of PSD. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were rigorously applied during the screening process, and pertinent characteristics of the included RCTs were meticulously extracted.

Background: Assisted reproductive technology (ART) has brought good news to infertile patients, but how to improve the pregnancy outcome of poor ovarian response (POR) patients is still a serious challenge and the scientific evidence of some adjuvant therapies remains controversial.

Aim: Based on previous evidence, the purpose of this systematic review and network meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of DHEA, CoQ10, GH and TEAS on pregnancy outcomes in POR patients undergoing in vitro fertilization and embryo transplantation (IVF-ET). In addition, we aimed to determine the current optimal adjuvant treatment strategies for POR.

The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on pregnancy outcomes in women undergoing fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET), in order to provide evidence-based medical support. We searched the Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, SinoMed, and CNKI for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from inception to 31 May 2022, using the search terms "transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation," "TEAS," " fertilization-embryo transfer," "IVF-ET," "randomized controlled trial," and "clinical trials." The experimental group was treated with TEAS or combined with ovulation-inducing medication, and the control group was treated with mock TEAS (mTEAS), ovulation-inducing medication, or no intervention.

Evidence exists suggesting the anti-depressive activities of geniposide (GP), a major compound in Gardenia jasminoides Ellis. Accordingly, the present study attempts to explore the anti-depressive mechanism of GP in chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced depression-like behaviors of mice. CUMS-induced mice were given GP daily and subjected to behavioral tests to observe the effect of GP on the depression-like behaviors.
