Protein S-acylation catalyzed by protein S-acyl transferases (PATs) is a reversible lipid modification regulating protein targeting, stability, and interaction profiles. PATs are encoded by large gene families in plants, and many proteins including receptor-like cytoplasmic kinases (RLCKs) and receptor-like kinases (RLKs) are subject to S-acylation. However, few PATs have been assigned substrates, and few S-acylated proteins have known upstream enzymes.

The animal and cell models were used in this study to investigate the mechanism of Astragali Radix-Curcumae Rhizoma(HQEZ) in inhibiting colon cancer progression and enhancing the efficacy of 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) by regulating hypoxia-inducible factors and tumor stem cells. The animal model was established by subcutaneous transplantation of colon cancer HCT116 cells in nude mice, and 24 successfully modeled mice were randomized into model, 5-FU, HQEZ, and 5-FU+HQEZ groups. The tumor volume was measured every two days.

Billions of apoptotic cells are swiftly removed from the human body daily. This clearance process is regulated by efferocytosis, an active anti-inflammatory process during which phagocytes engulf and remove apoptotic cells. However, impaired clearance of apoptotic cells is associated with the development of various autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Rapeseed is a critical cash crop globally, and understanding its distribution can assist in refined agricultural management, ensuring a sustainable vegetable oil supply, and informing government decisions. China is the leading consumer and third-largest producer of rapeseed. However, there is a lack of widely available, long-term, and large-scale remotely sensed maps on rapeseed cultivation in China.

Given the crucial role of periosteum in bone repair, the use of artificial periosteum to induce spontaneous bone healing instead of using bone substitutes has become a potential strategy. Also, the proper transition from pro-inflammatory signals to anti-inflammatory signals is pivotal for achieving optimal repair outcomes. Hence, we designed an artificial periosteum loaded with a filamentous bacteriophage clone named P11, featuring an aligned fiber morphology.

  • - 3M syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by severe growth retardation and specific physical features, but typically does not affect mental development or organs; identified genes are crucial for diagnosis.
  • - A case study highlighted a patient with unusual symptoms and no typical facial features associated with 3M syndrome, leading to genetic testing which revealed a new and previously unreported genetic variant.
  • - The findings underscore the variability in clinical features of 3M syndrome and the importance of genetic testing for accurate diagnosis, contributing to a broader understanding of the disorder's molecular profile.

Rosuvastatin calcium is a widely used 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A-reductase inhibitor developed for the treatment of dyslipidemia. To establish a control strategy for the elemental impurities, a new digestion method combined with an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) was developed and validated by our team to determine elements Cd, Pb, As, Hg, Co, V, and Ni in rosuvastatin calcium tablets, which digest the sample perfectly even in the presence of a large number of excipients, especially titanium dioxide. The measurement mode was collision cell mode with kinetic energy discrimination (KED).

Avian influenza (AI), caused by H9N2 subtype avian influenza virus (AIV), poses a serious threat to poultry farming and public health due to its transmissibility and pathogenicity. The PB2 protein is a major component of the viral RNA polymerase complex. It is of great importance to identify the antigenic determinants of the PB2 protein to explore the function of the PB2 protein.

Introduction: species exhibit a broad distribution in nature and play a crucial role in human and ecological environments.

Methods: Two species isolated from the ancient Great Wall loess in the Mentougou District of Beijing, China, were identified and described as new species, namely, and , based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses of multiple genes including ITS, , and genes.

Results: Phylogenetic analyses showed that both novel species formed a distinctive lineage and that they were most closely related to and , respectively.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic joint disease, characterized by degenerative destruction of articular cartilage. Chondrocytes, the unique cell type in cartilage, mediate the metabolism of extracellular matrix (ECM), which is mainly constituted by aggrecan and type II collagen. A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin 5 (ADAMTS5) is an aggrecanase responsible for the degradation of aggrecan in OA cartilage.

  • 5-Aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is essential for making heme and chlorophyll, and this study focuses on creating efficient microbial production systems for it.
  • Researchers identified a novel 5-ALA synthase and used a small RNA library to enhance production through specific gene repression, resulting in significant increases in 5-ALA levels.
  • By employing strategies to improve efflux and reduce oxidative stress, they developed a microbial strain capable of producing up to 6.19 g·L of 5-ALA, advancing methods for its bioproduction.

The protein content (PC) and wet gluten content (WGC) are crucial indicators determining the quality of wheat, playing a pivotal role in evaluating processing and baking performance. Original reflectance (OR), wavelet feature (WF), and color index (CI) were extracted from hyperspectral and RGB sensors. Combining Pearson-competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARs)-variance inflation factor (VIF) with four machine learning (ML) algorithms were used to model accuracy of PC and WGC.

Oxyresveratrol is one of the active ingredients derived from mulberry branch with strong anti-inflammatory bioactivity. In this research, we want to explore if oxyresveratrol can improve cognitive impairments and episodic-like memory and its mechanism. In LPS-induced BV-2 cells, 25 μM OXY can significantly inhibit the expression of NO and alter the M1/M2 polarization by regulating M1/M2 phenotype makers.

Background: The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) is linked to lipid metabolism and has shown considerable prognostic value in cardiovascular disorders. However, its role in myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) has not been investigated. We assessed the relationship between AIP, the severity of coronary stenosis, and prognosis in MINOCA.

Hyaluronidase is a promising target in drug discovery, given its overexpression in a range of physiological and pathological processes, including tumor migration, skin aging, sagging, and wrinkling, as well as inflammation and bacterial infections. In this study, to identify novel hyaluronidase inhibitors, we applied click chemistry for the modular synthesis of 370 triazoles in 96-well plates, starting with biphenyl azide. Utilizing an optimized turbidimetric screening assay in microplates, we identified Fmoc-containing triazoles 5 and 6, as well as quinoline-containing triazoles 15 and 16, as highly effective hyaluronidase inhibitors.

Heparosan as the precursor for heparin biosynthesis has attracted intensive attention while Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) has been applied as a chassis for heparosan biosynthesis. Here, after uncovering the pivotal role of KfiB in heparosan biosynthesis, we further demonstrate KfiB is involved in facilitating KpsT to translocate the nascent heparosan polysaccharide chain. As a result, an artificial expression cassette KfiACB was constructed with optimized RBS elements, resulting in 0.
