Isolated remethylation defects are rare inherited diseases caused by a defective remethylation of homocysteine to methionine, preventing various essential methylation reactions to occur. Patients present with a systemic phenotype, which can especially affect the central and peripheral nervous systems leading to epileptic encephalopathy, developmental delay and peripheral neuropathy. Respiratory failure has been described in some cases, caused by both central and peripheral neurological involvement.

Research on heat-induced food contamination is being given more attention as a result of the health risks that have been publicly revealed in recent years. Furan is known as a colorless, combustible, heterocyclic aromatic organic molecule and is formed when food products are processed and stored. It has been established that furan, which is inevitably ingested, has a deleterious impact on human health and causes toxicity.

We explored an model of muscle energy metabolism and demonstrated its theoretical plausibility. Results indicate that energy metabolism triggered by activation can capture the muscle condition, rest, or exercise, and can respond accordingly adjusting the rates of their respiration and energy utilization for efficient use of the nutrients. Our study demonstrated during exercise higher respiratory activity causes a substantial increase in exergy release with an increase in exergy destruction, and entropy generation rate.

D-lactate is produced in very low amounts in human tissues. However, certain bacteria in the human intestine produce D-lactate. In some gastrointestinal diseases, increased bacterial D-lactate production and uptake from the gut into the bloodstream take place.

Statement Of Problem: Occlusal collisions of articulated intraoral digital scans can be corrected by intraoral scanners (IOSs) or dental design software programs. However, the influence of these corrections on the accuracy of maxillomandibular relationship is unclear.

Purpose: The purpose of this clinical investigation was to measure the effect of occlusal collision corrections completed by the IOSs or dental design software programs on the trueness and precision of maxillomandibular relationship.

Objectives: To investigate effects of layer thickness, build angle, and viscosity on the mechanical properties and trueness of denture base resins used for digital light processing (DLP).

Methods: Two denture base resins for DLP in different viscosity (high and low) were tested by using two manufacturing parameters:1) layer thickness (LT) (50- or 100-μm) and 2) build angle (BA) (0-, 45-, and 90-degree). disk- and bar-shaped specimens were used to evaluate hardness and flexural strength, respectively.

Objective: Vaccination against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-2) prevents the development of serious diseases has been shown in many studies. However, the effect of vaccination on outcomes in COVID-19 patients requiring intensive care is not clear.

Methods: This is a retrospective multicenter study conducted in 17 intensive care unit (ICU) in Turkey between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021.

The aim of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish adaptation of the Cervical Dysplasia Distress Questionnaire (CDDQ) in women with abnormal Pap smear results. This validation study was conducted using a cross-sectional research design. A total of 115 patients who were being followed up in the obstetrics and gynecology outpatient clinic of a university hospital due to an abnormal Pap smear test were included.

This retrospective observational study is aimed to determine the efficacy of BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) and CoronaVac (Sinovac) vaccines against symptomatic or severe disease in COVID-19-diagnosed patients. The secondary aim was to define the differences between vaccinated and un-vaccinated patients in terms of age, comorbidities and course of the disease, and to determine the survival rates. Of the 1463 PCR-positive patients, 55.

Previous literature has reported changes in the length or thickness of the patellar tendon (PT) following primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study aims to determine the structural changes in both the length and thickness of the PT after primary TKA using ultrasound (US) and to investigate the association between these changes and clinical outcomes after a minimum follow-up of 48 months. This prospective study used the US on 60 knees of 32 patients (aged 54-80, mean 64.

Background: The nociceptive flexion reflex (NFR) is a polysynaptic and multisegmental spinal reflex that develops in response to a noxious stimulus and is characterized by the withdrawal of the affected body part. The NFR possesses two excitatory components: early RII and late RIII. Late RIII is derived from high-threshold cutaneous afferent A-delta fibers, which are prone to injury early in the course of diabetes mellitus (DM) and may lead to neuropathic pain.

Purpose: To determine the degree of conversion (DC) and spectral diffuse reflectance of four different gingiva-colored composites and to evaluate their color stability after various aging processes.

Materials And Methods: The gingiva-colored composites were assigned to four experimental groups (Anaxgum (AG), Crea.lign paste Gum (CB), Gradia Gum (GR), SR Nexco Gum (NC)).

Mental health problems were found to be more common than physical health problems in cancer caregivers in palliative care units. This is a quasi-experimental study planned to determine the effect of the meditation based mandala programme on distress, anxiety and depression in caregivers of cancer patients in a palliative care unit. Planned as a single-group pre-test/post-test design, with a total of 11 caregivers.

Uterine manipulation is essential for moving the uterus and proper anatomical dissection without complications during total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH). Although many different uterine manipulators (UM) have been designed in the last few decades, there is still no "optimal UM" that is universally safe, efficient, and cost-effective. This study aimed to compare myoma screw (MS) and UM with regard to surgical outcomes and cost-effectiveness in patients who underwent TLH.

Introduction: During the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, which has significantly impacted public health, it is crucial to raise awareness and access to accurate information about breastfeeding for healthy growth and development. This descriptive study aimed to evaluate the content, reliability, and quality of YouTube videos on COVID-19 and breastfeeding.

Methods: The YouTube platform was searched for the English keywords "COVID-19" and "breastfeeding" in March 2021.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of number of supports and build angle on the fabrication and internal fit accuracy (trueness and precision) of additively manufactured resin-ceramic hybrid crowns.

Methods: A mandibular first molar crown was designed and nested on the build platform of a printer either with a 30° angle between the occlusal surface and the build platform (BLS (less support) and BMS (more support)) or its occlusal surface parallel to the build platform (VLS (less support) and VMS (more support)) to fabricate additively manufactured resin-ceramic hybrid crowns (n = 14). After fabrication, supports were removed by a blinded operator and all crowns were digitized with an intraoral scanner.

Statement Of Problem: Additively manufactured composite resins for definitive restorations have been recently introduced. The bond strength between these composite resins and different substrates has not been extensively studied.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to measure the shear bond strength (SBS) between additively manufactured composite resins and dentin and titanium substrates and compare those with the SBS between subtractively manufactured polymer-infiltrated ceramic and the same substrates (dentin and titanium), when different dual-polymerizing resin cements were used.

Shotgun metagenomic sequencing is a powerful tool for studying bacterial communities in their natural habitats or sites of infection, without the need for cultivation. However, low microbial signals in metagenomic sequencing can be overwhelmed by host DNA contamination, resulting in decreased sensitivity for microbial read detection. Several commercial kits and other methods have been developed to enrich bacterial sequences; however, these assays have not been tested extensively for human intestinal tissues yet.

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in preterm infants. Despite significant advances made in the prevention and treatment of disease so far, there has not been much change in the rate of mortality and morbidity associated with NEC. Although the factors affecting the development of necrotizing enterocolitis are not yet known precisely, prematurity is thought to be the most important risk factor for the development of NEC.
