Background: The treatment of persistent syringomyelia associated with Chiari malformation type 1 (CM1) is unclear. This study aims to evaluate the clinical and radiologic outcomes of syringo-subarachnoid shunt (SSS) as a treatment for persistent syringomyelia following posterior fossa decompression (PFD) for CM1.
Methods: Forty-nine cases treated for CM1 associated syringomyelia at a single center were analyzed, 17 of them undergoing reoperation due to persistent syrinx formation.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of residual instability in the knee after ACL reconstruction through the analysis of MRI findings. This study included patients who underwent isolated ACL reconstruction between December 2019 and December 2021, and had preoperative and postoperative MRI, clinical scores, and postoperative isokinetic measurements. The anterior tibial translation (ATT) distance, coronal lateral collateral ligament (LCL) sign, and femorotibial rotation (FTR) angle were compared preoperatively and postoperatively.

Inflammation and oxidative stress (OS) are well-recognized processes occurring in association with acute or chronic impairment of cell homeostasis. The transcription factor Nrf2 (nuclear factor [erythroid-derived 2]-like 2) is of major importance as the defense instrument against OS and alters anti-inflammatory activities related to different pathological states.

Introduction: Cord arterial blood gas analysis (ABGA) results are used as diagnostic criteria for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy in newborns with suspected perinatal asphyxia. This study evaluated the effect of cord ABGA lactate level on the long-term neurodevelopment of newborns without any clinical signs of perinatal asphyxia.
Methods: This clinical observation study was designed among term babies born between 2018 and 2019 in our unit.
Aim: Nurses responsible for the care of children in the emergency department must be aware of the case profile of the pandemic era, better prepare for developing crises, and identify preventive services. The study aims to determine the pediatric emergency cases admitted during the pandemic and compare them to those during the pre-pandemic period.
Methods: The current study was designed as a single-center, retrospective, cross-sectional, and descriptive research.

Objective: Intragastric balloon placement is an effective method for weight reduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of combining liraglutide with intragastric balloon.
Methods: Initially, demographic data of patients such as age, gender, comorbid diseases, adverse events, initial weight, height, body mass index, percent body fat, and waist-hip ratio were collected.
Immunocytochemical staining of microorganisms and cells has long been a popular method for examining their specific subcellular structures in greater detail. Recently, generative networks have emerged as an alternative to traditional immunostaining techniques. These networks infer fluorescence signatures from various imaging modalities and then virtually apply staining to the images in a digital environment.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA carcass classification method is expected to effectively categorize carcasses based on both carcass and meat quality criteria. Localisation of adipose tissue on the carcass differs between thin- and fat-tailed sheep breeds, which may influence the effectiveness of the EUROP classification system in distinguishing lamb carcasses. The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of EUROP carcass fatness and conformation classes on carcass characteristics and meat quality in thin-tailed Kivircik and fat-tailed Kangal Akkaraman lambs.

The ionizing radiation-induced oxidative stress causes injury to the pancreatic islet cells of Langerhans. We used histopathological, immunohistochemical, and biochemical analyses to examine α- and β-cells in the islets of Langerhans in rats undergoing whole-body x-ray ionizing radiation, a group of which was treated with NAC.

Here, the first results of the chILD registry system were presented. In this prospective cohort study, data were collected using a data-entry software system.

Methods: Thirty-one participants (25 with neurocognitive PCC) underwent clinical examination, lumbar puncture, and venipuncture ≥3 months after COVID-19 symptom onset. Healthy volunteers were included.
Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of a calcium phosphate-containing-desensitizer (Teethmate Desensitizer - TD), caries type, subject age, and preoperative hypersensitivity on postoperative sensitivity (POS) after composite restorations on deep or extremely deep lesions.
Methods: 50 subjects, having two teeth with deep or extremely deep caries, participated in this study. TD was applied randomly to one tooth of each participant, and all teeth were restored with composite resin (Filtek Z250).
Purpose: Penetrating spinal injuries are generally extremely rare and are seldom encountered in pediatric patients. The non-compliance of pediatric patients with physical examination can sometimes delay diagnosis and treatment. Here, we present a case of a child who had a fall and suffered penetrating spinal trauma due to a small glass fragment.

Here we report the results of a first-in-human phase I trial in 41 patients with rGBM who were injected with CAN-3110-an oncolytic herpes virus (oHSV). In contrast to other clinical oHSVs, CAN-3110 retains the viral neurovirulence ICP34.

In this study, biofabricated CuONPs were obtained by using the leaf extract of plant originating from the Far East to enlighten the characteristics of the novel nanoparticles differentiating from those existing in the literature. Multifunctional nature of the CuONPs was evaluated by the antibacterial, antifungal, and decolorative applications and also by performing molecular docking analysis.

Methods: Four groups were established - control, ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), sham (I/R+solvent/dimethyl sulfoxide [DMSO]), and I/R+RVT. Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm model was used as the experimental protocol.
The identification of interatrial block (IAB) through electrocardiography (ECG) has been correlated with an elevated likelihood of developing atrial fibrillation (AF) and stroke. IAB is diagnosed by evaluating P-wave prolongation on a surface ECG. The presystolic wave (PSW) is an echocardiographic marker determined by pulse-wave examination of the aortic root during late diastole.

The metabolic needs of these children differ from those of healthy children, and malnutrition is common. Protein-losing enteropathy has been reported in 5 to 13% of patients after the Fontan procedure.

In this study, the role of antioxidant status associated with oxidative stress in Alzheimer's disease was investigated. Peripheral blood samples were obtained from 28 healthy individuals (as control) and 28 Alzheimer's patients who met the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Diseases and Stroke/Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association criteria.

Given the significant impact of metabolism on disease progression, exploring the interaction between the metabolome and epigenome may offer new insights into Huntington's disease (HD) diagnosis and treatment. Using fourteen post-mortem HD cases and fourteen control subjects, we performed metabolomic profiling of human postmortem brain tissue (striatum and frontal lobe), and we performed DNA methylome profiling using the same frontal lobe tissue.
