Purpose: In the present study, the effects of leaf and rhizome extracts of Arum rupicola Boiss rupicola were searched on the infective stage Toxocara canis larvae (L3) in the experimentally infected mice.
Methods: Four-six week-old male BALB/c mice were divided into eight groups (G1-8, each group consisted of 7 mice), and they were infected orally with 500 T. canis eggs with L3.
Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and anxiety levels of parents with children suspected of having coronavirus disease-2019.
Methods: The descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted at the coronavirus disease-2019 outpatient clinic of a tertiary hospital in Ankara, Turkey, between January and August 2021, and comprised parents who presented with suspicions of coronavirus disease-2019 in their children. Data was collected using a questionnaire to assess the parents' knowledge and attitudes towards coronavirus disease-2019, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory-I and the visual analogue scale to determine levels of fear related to coronavirus disease-2019.
Purpose: Intravitreal bevacizumab has been utilized to mitigate radiation retinopathy, yet the potential role of intravitreal melatonin for its prevention remains unexplored. This study aims to evaluate and compare the efficacy of intravitreal melatonin and bevacizumab in preventing radiation retinopathy in an experimental animal model.
Materials And Methods: Twelve healthy male New Zealand white rabbits ( = 24 eyes) received a single 3000 cGy irradiation dose in both eyes.
Tracheal tuft cells shape immune responses in the airways. While some of these effects have been attributed to differential release of either acetylcholine, leukotriene C4 and/or interleukin-25 depending on the activating stimuli, tuft cell-dependent mechanisms underlying the recruitment and activation of immune cells are incompletely understood. Here we show that Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection activates mouse tuft cells, which release ATP via pannexin 1 channels.

Material And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between April 15, 2023 and April 14, 2024 with 596 parents of children aged between 0 and 18 years who had return visits to the pediatric emergency department of a gynaecology and pediatrics hospital in the Western Black Sea Region of Türkiye within 72 h after the first visit. Following the acquisition of written informed consent from the parents, the data were collected using the Descriptive Characteristics of Children and Experiences of Parents Information Form.
Purpose: The association of cardiac dosimetric parameters with survival in lung cancer patients is well established. However, most research has concentrated on patients undergoing definitive treatment. This study aims to investigate the relationship between cardiac dosimetric parameters and survival in patients receiving postoperative radiotherapy (PORT).

The synthesis of these derivatives is generally approached, designed and developed on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes, the lack of robust synthesis methods to a given target can pose considerable difficulties or even thwart the preparation of specific derivatives for further study.

NICU nurses play a crucial role in providing support, positively impacting health and aiding effective stress management during this challenging period. This study assesses stress and nurse-parent support for parents with preterm infants in the NICU, exploring connections between stress, support, and various parental and infant variables.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA disintegrin and metalloproteinases (ADAMs) are transmembrane proteases that cleave other proteins close to the surface in a process called shedding. The prominent member ADAM10 has been linked to several pathologies such as Alzheimer's disease, bacterial infection, cancer development and metastasis. Although the regulation of the ADAM10 activity by calcium influx and calmodulin inhibition has been reported, the spatiotemporal regulation of Ca-dependent ADAM10 activation and the required source of Ca ions have not been thoroughly studied.

Thin film layers are sputtered onto the-Si surface where Al metal contacts are deposited using the thermal evaporation technique. Film characteristics of the layers are investigated with respect to the crystalline structure and surface morphology.

Standard first-line therapies are based on a chemo-immunotherapy with rituximab, which mediates CD16-dependent antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). We phenotypically and functionally analyzed blood samples from 46 patients focusing on CD16+ NK cells, CD16+ T cells and CD16+ monocytes.

Methods: Eighty patients with partial BD and 80 control cases without any known systemic or ocular diseases were enrolled in this prospective study. Retinal neurovascular structures in the macular and optic disc regions were examined in using OCT and OCTA.
Background: Rabies in Turkey is maintained by dogs, but following a sustained spill-over, red fox mediated rabies had spread from the Aegean region to the central part of Türkiye. During the past four years from 2019 to 2023 large scale efforts used oral rabies vaccination (ORV) to control rabies in red foxes. Here, we present the results of the largest ORV campaign on the Asian continent.

In this disease, intracytoplasmic neuronal inclusions are observed in enteric neurons in the gastrointestinal tract, and the composition of the intestinal microbiome is altered. These changes correlate with the motor phenotype.

High expression levels of the RNA binding protein IGF2BP2/IMP2 are correlated with increased tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and poor prognosis in the clinic. However, there is a lack of understanding of whether IMP2 affects the cargo of cancer cell-derived EVs, thereby modulating macrophage polarization.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the factors affecting development of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with severe hypothyroidism.
Methods: This retrospective observational study involved patients with primary hypothyroidism and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels of more than 50 mIU/L at their review in the endocrinology outpatient clinic, between January 2015 and April 2021. Factors affecting the development of AKI were examined by logistic regression analysis.
Background: There are different types of real-time ultrasound (US)-guided combined spinal epidural (CSE) anesthesia techniques. We aimed to investigate the effect of real-time US-guided paramedian sagittal oblique (PSO), transverse interlaminar (TI) approach method, and landmark-guided (LG) CSE anesthesia.
Methods: Ninety patients who underwent CSE block were included in the study.
Background And Purpose: Stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) is an effective treatment for head & neck (H&N) paragangliomas. Nevertheless, the timeline for achieving a tumor-volume-reduction (TVR) remains unclear.
Materials And Methods: Sixty-three cases with H&N paragangliomas received definitive SRT and were evaluated retrospectively.
Background: Adolescents diagnosed with asthma make a transition to adult care when they reach a certain age. Besides, these adolescents need specialized education for them to become autonomous, competent, and adult patients and gain the necessary knowledge and skills related to their disease. In this study, by using a prospective randomized controlled trial design, we evaluated the effectiveness of an education program based on healthcare transition provided to adolescents diagnosed with asthma.

However, the effects of allo-DOM with contrasting quality (in addition to quantity) on the planktonic communities of microbial loop are poorly understood. To determine the impact of different qualities of pulsed allo-DOM disturbance on the coupling between bacteria and ciliates, we conducted a mesocosm experiment with two different allo-DOM sources added to mesocosms in a single-pulse disturbance event: Alder tree leaf extract, a more labile (L) source and HuminFeed® (HF), a more recalcitrant source.

The substrate spectrum for ADAM8 proteolytic activity is not exclusive but is related to effectors of inflammation and signaling in the tumor microenvironment. In addition, complexes of ADAM8 with extracellular binding partners such as integrin β-1 cause an extensive intracellular signaling in tumor cells, thereby activating kinase pathways with STAT3, ERK1/2, and Akt signaling, which causes increased cell survival and enhanced motility.
