The purpose of this study was to determine nursing care for deceased patients among intensive care unit nurses. This prospective, observational study was conducted in Istanbul, Turkey. The sample consisted of 20 intensive care nurses caring for 39 deceased patients during the study period.

Methods: The study was conducted as a prospective, observational study at the German Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey in 2007. Hemodynamic, blood gas values, and oxygen saturation measured by pulse oximetry (SpO 2) values were recorded in 37 patients who had undergone open-heart surgery.
