The Clinical Impact of Electronic Patient-Reported Outcome Measures in the Remote Monitoring of Inflammatory Arthritis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Objective: The inflammatory arthritides (IAs) make up a significant proportion of conditions followed up in rheumatology clinics. These patients require regular monitoring, but this is increasingly difficult with rising patient numbers and demand on clinics. Our objective is to evaluate the clinical impact of electronic patient-reported outcome measures (ePROMs) as a digital remote-monitoring intervention on disease activity, treatment decisions, and health care resource use in patients with IA.

Neuropsychiatric Manifestations of Antiphospholipid Syndrome-A Narrative Review.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a common autoimmune pro-thrombotic condition characterised by thrombosis and pregnancy morbidity. There are a broad range of neuropsychiatric manifestations associated with APS, from focal symptoms to more global dysfunction. Patients commonly present with transient ischaemic attacks and ischaemic strokes, with identifiable lesions on brain imaging.

Rare case of type B insulin resistance in association with systemic lupus erythematosus: illustrating diagnostic and management challenges.

A 42 year-old Caribbean woman with, known type 2 diabetes, was admitted with worsening fatigue, arthritis and rashes. She was diagnosed with multisystem systemic lupus erythematosus and was initially treated with systemic steroids. During this admission, she had persistently elevated capillary glucose levels with insulin requirements over 8 U/kg/day that still did not control her blood glucose levels.

Kinases as targets in the treatment of solid tumors.

The protein kinase family, one of the largest gene families in eukaryotes, plays an important role in regulating various cellular processes such as cell proliferation, cell death, cell cycle progression, differentiation and cell survival. Therefore, it is not surprising that the deregulation of many kinases is usually directly linked to cancer development. In all solid tumors, changes in protein kinase expression levels and activities, as well as alterations in the degree of posttranslational modifications can contribute to cancer development.
