Background: Conventional cryoprotectant mixtures (sucrose and sorbitol) impart excessive sweetness and calories to surimi. Therefore, there is a need to explore alternative cryoprotectants with low sweetness and low-calorie content. The cryoprotective effects and possible mechanisms of soybean oligosaccharides (SBOS) on the frozen stability of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) surimi were investigated during 120 days of frozen storage in a comparison with commercial cryoprotectants (4% sucrose and 4% sorbitol, w/w).

We investigate the localization in a one-dimensional modified Peierls model with a non-adiabatic dynamic method. Different from the polaron scenario, here the localization stems from extensive conserved local quantities in the disorder-free lattice. Both the entanglement entropy and out-of-time-ordered correlator (OTOC) show the oscillating feature of dynamically generated localization.

Introduction: Non-intubated anesthesia (NIA) has been proposed for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), although how the benefit-to-risk of NIA compares to that of intubated general anesthesia (IGA) for certain types of patients remains unclear. Therefore, the aim of the present meta-analysis was to understand whether NIA or IGA may be more beneficial for patients undergoing VATS.

Methods: A systematic search of Cochrane Library, Pubmed and Embase databases from 1968 to April 2019 was performed using predefined criteria.

All-polymer solar cells have made substantial achievements in recent years, offering numerous unsettled subjects for mechanical researchers. In order to quantitatively study the influence of the molecular electrostatic potential on the charge generation proposed by the experimenter, we simulate the ultrafast dynamics of the charge-transfer (CT) state at the interface between two polymer chains, which are respectively regarded as the donor and acceptor in all-polymer solar cells. The formation of a stable CT state is found to be sensitive to the distance between two oppositely charged polarons and the relevant critical electrostatic potential is thus quantified, which is in good agreement with experiments.
