Bufalin has significant antitumor effects on various kinds of tumors. However, bufalin's clinical utility is severely limited because of its side effects, toxicity, and fast metabolism. We made bufalin-loaded, targeted nanospheres with the aim of overcoming bufalin's limitations.

Materials And Methods: RT-PCR was performed to detect expression of miR-497 in CRC cell lines (HCT8, LOVO, Ls-174, HCT116 and HT29) and in clinical cancer specimens.

Reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR) and western blot were performed to detect HIF-1α expression in HCT116 cells following transfection of p-HIF-1α RNAi and p-control.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA large number of studies have shown that bufalin can have a significant antitumor effect in a variety of tumors. However, because of toxicity, insolubility in water, fast metabolism, short half-life, and other shortcomings, its application is limited in cancer therapy. In this study, we explored the anti-metastatic role of bufalin-loaded pluronic polyetherimide nanoparticles on HCT116 colon cancer-bearing mice.

Golgi phosphoprotein 2 (GOLPH2) is a very important biomarker in a variety of diseases. Its biological function is not clear, particularly in gastric cancer. To investigate the role of GOLPH2 in human gastric cancer, and determine its effect on the Th1 lymphocyte response, its expression and that of IL-12A were measured by real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe pathogenesis of gastric cancer is characterized by excessive proliferation, abnormal differentiation, and reduced apoptosis. Ursolic acid, extracted from traditional Chinese medicine bearberry, inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in gastric cancer. However, the mechanism of the proapoptotic effect of ursolic acid on gastric cancer cells needs further investigation.
