Herein, we studied changes in the contents of phenolic and free volatile compounds in Shine Muscat grapes stored at room temperature. Berry quality was maintained up to 11 d after harvest, and the levels of 35 phenolic compounds were observed to increase during storage. This increase is attributed to the upregulation of genes, including phenylalanine ammonia-lyases, 4-coumarate-CoA ligases, and stilbene synthases, in the phenylpropanoid pathway.

Phosphorus-containing flame retardants are prone to result in the buildup of biotoxins, while halogen flame retardants easily lead to hazardous gases. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a multifunctional flame-retardant cotton fabric without phosphorus and halogen. Herein, single-ended hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS-ID) was synthesized through single-ended hydrosilicone oil and 1,4-butanediol, followed by the preparation of a waterborne polyurethane (RWPU) containing side chain polydimethylsiloxane through the reaction of PDMS-ID with isocyanate prepolymer.

Background: In inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), chemotherapy is a common treatment strategy. However, there is a lack of reliable methods to predict the prognosis of patients with inoperable HCC after chemotherapy. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the clinical characteristics of patients with inoperable HCC and to establish and validate nomogram models for predicting the survival outcomes in this patient group following chemotherapy.

Gastric cancer (GC) poses a significant health challenge worldwide, necessitating the identification of predictive biomarkers to improve prognosis. Dysregulated lipid metabolism is a well-recognized hallmark of tumorigenesis, prompting investigation into apolipoproteins (APOs). In this study, we focused on apolipoprotein D (APOD) following comprehensive analyses of APOs in pan-cancer.

Background: To assess the feasibility of CBCT-based adaptive intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) using automated planning for treatment of head and neck (HN) cancers.

Methods: Twenty HN cancer patients who received radiotherapy and had pretreatment CBCTs were included in this study. Initial IMPT plans were created using automated planning software for all patients.

Steel lay the basis of railroad train traffic. Rail fracture is the most serious injury to the rail, which should be monitored in time. The conventional mono-pulse exciting ultrasonic guide wave (UGW) has low energy, the conventional Barker code has limited coding sequence length and the orthogonal complementary Golay code has the problem of low monitoring efficiency.

  • * Graves' disease (GD) involves hyperthyroidism and typically requires patients to limit iodine intake, although recent studies suggest this restriction may be overstated and that inorganic iodine can be useful in treatment.
  • * Inorganic iodine is also considered a safer alternative for certain populations, such as pregnant women and cancer patients, offering benefits like lower toxicity while improving the management of GD and enhancing patients' quality of life.

Growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma is a common intracranial benign tumor, characterized by excessive production of growth hormone, which leads to acromegaly or giant disease. An abnormal increase in growth hormone can induce glucose metabolism disorder, which is often diagnosed and treated as type 2 diabetes, because of uncontrollable hyperglycemia, delaying the treatment of the primary disease. This paper reports the diagnosis and treatment data of a patient with growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma who was first diagnosed as having diabetes, and reviews the related literature to facilitate a better understanding of the disease.

Purpose: To develop a new registration quality metric, based on the distance between image edges, for automated evaluation and comparison of DIR algorithms.

Methods: Canny filter is used to create binary gradient images from input images to be compared. A small subregion of one binary image is translated relative to the other.

Background: To assess the impact of systematic setup and range uncertainties for robustly optimized (RO) intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans in patients with localized prostate cancer.

Methods: Twenty-six localized prostate patients previously treated with VMAT (CTV to PTV expansion of 3-5 mm) were re-planned with RO-IMPT with 3 mm and 5 mm geometrical uncertainties coupled with 3% range uncertainties. Robust evaluations (RE) accounting for the geometrical uncertainties of 3 and 5 mm were evaluated for the IMPT and VMAT plans.

To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, many countries have established regional carbon emission trading markets and tried to build a low-carbon economic system. At present, the implementation of carbon emission trading and low-carbon economic systems faces many challenges such as manipulation, corruption, opacity, lack of trust, and lack of data tracking means. The application of blockchain technology can perfectly solve the above problems.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study evaluates a deformable image registration (DIR) algorithm for creating automatic prostate contours, comparing them with manually drawn contours from planning and daily imaging scans of 28 prostate cancer patients.
  • - Performance metrics like Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) and mean distance-to-agreement (MDA) showed high accuracy and the majority (94.8%) of DIRs fell within the recommended tolerances for clinical use.
  • - While many radiomic features showed strong agreement between auto and manual contours, indicating the potential for using automatic contours in analysis, caution is advised due to some variability.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluates a proton-specific knowledge-based planning (KBP) model, RapidPlanPT (RPP), for creating optimized intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) plans for advanced head and neck cancer patients.
  • A total of 73 patients previously treated with volumetric modulated arc therapy were used, with 53 for model creation and 20 for validation, measuring target coverage and organ protection in RPP-generated plans compared to expert plans.
  • Results show that RPP plans achieve better target coverage and organ at risk sparing compared to expert plans, especially for bilateral cases, though they slightly increase radiation dose to areas outside the target volume.

Purpose: To assess the performance of a proton-specific knowledge based planning (KBPP) model in creation of robustly optimized intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) plans for treatment of patients with prostate cancer.

Materials And Methods: Forty-five patients with localized prostate cancer, who had previously been treated with volumetric modulated arc therapy, were selected and replanned with robustly optimized IMPT. A KBPP model was generated from the results of 30 of the patients, and the remaining 15 patient results were used for validation.

Purpose: Anatomical changes and patient setup uncertainties during intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) of head and neck (HN) cancers demand frequent evaluation of delivered dose. This work investigated a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and deformable image registration based therapy workflow to demonstrate the feasibility of proton dose calculation on synthetic computed tomography (sCT) for adaptive IMPT treatment of HN cancer.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-one patients with HN cancer were enrolled in this study, a retrospective institutional review board protocol.

Article Synopsis
  • Hypofractionated radiotherapy for prostate cancer requires the right treatment margins to balance tumor control and minimize side effects, which have not been standardized before.
  • In a study with 16 patients, a specific dose was delivered in 5 fractions, and daily imaging was used to track treatment and adjust doses accurately.
  • The results showed that while the overall coverage for the planned treatment area decreased, prostate coverage was maintained, indicating that current margins are effective, although a boost is needed for higher-risk areas.
