Colony performance of three native bumblebee species from South China and association with their gut microbiome.

Bumblebees play an important ecological economic role as pollinators in nature and agriculture. For reasons of biosecurity, many countries promote the cultivation of native bumblebee species for crop pollination instead of importing "alien" species. In South China, a few bumblebee species are considered useful in this way, particularly, Bombus atripes, Bombus bicoloratus and Bombus breviceps.

Towards generalizable Graph Contrastive Learning: An information theory perspective.

Graph Contrastive Learning (GCL) is increasingly employed in graph representation learning with the primary aim of learning node/graph representations from a predefined pretext task that can generalize to various downstream tasks. Meanwhile, the transition from a specific pretext task to diverse and unpredictable downstream tasks poses a significant challenge for GCL's generalization ability. Most existing GCL approaches maximize mutual information between two views derived from the original graph, either randomly or heuristically.

The Role of the Face Itself in the Face Effect: Sensitivity, Expressiveness, and Anticipated Feedback in Individual Compliance.

Face-to-face interactions are central to many individual choices and decision-making issues, such as customer services, sales, promotions, and negotiations. While the face effect, that is, face-to-face interactions are more effective in inducing compliance than other forms of interactions, has been noted in the literature, its mechanism has rarely been explored. This research helps to fill the theoretical void and provides new insights into the face effect with two lab experiments and one field experiment.
