A total of 80 patients with AD (mild and moderate) and 34 normal controls (NC) participated. Neuropsychological assessments were conducted using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), while eye movements were recorded using eye-tracking technology.

Clinical and biomarker analyses of SHR-1701 combined with famitinib in patients with previously treated advanced biliary tract cancer or pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: a phase II trial.

Advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) have poor prognoses and limited treatment options. Here, we conducted this first-in-class phase II study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SHR-1701, a bifunctional fusion protein targeting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), combined with famitinib, a multi-targeted receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, in patients with advanced BTC or PDAC who failed previous standard treatment (trial registration: ChiCTR2000037927). Among 51 enrolled patients, the BTC cohort showed an objective response rate (ORR) of 28% (including 2 complete responses) and a disease control rate (DCR) of 80%, with a median progression-free survival (mPFS) of 5.

Efficient metacognition is essential to many aspects of daily life, from health care to finance and education. Across three experiments, we found a specific form of curiosity in humans about the quality of their own metacognition, using a novel approach that dissociates perceptual from metacognitive information searches.

Linking Gut Microbiota, Oral Microbiota, and Serum Metabolites in Insomnia Disorder: A Preliminary Study.

Purpose: Despite recent findings suggesting an altered gut microbiota in those suffering from insomnia disorder (ID), research into the gut microbiota, oral microbiota, serum metabolites, and their interactions in patients with ID is sparse.

Patients And Methods: We collected a total of 114 fecal samples, 133 oral cavity samples and 20 serum samples to characterize the gut microbiota, oral microbiota and serum metabolites in a cohort of 76 ID patients (IDs) and 59 well-matched healthy controls (HCs). We assessed the microbiota as potentially biomarkers for ID for ID by 16S rDNA sequencing and elucidated the interactions involving gut microbiota, oral microbiota and serum metabolites in ID in conjunction with untargeted metabolomics.

Silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) are widely utilized in occupational settings where they can cause lung damage through inhalation. The objective of this research was to explore the metabolic markers of SiNPs-induced toxicity on A549 cells by metabolomics and provide a foundation for studying nanoparticle-induced lung toxicity. Metabolomics analysis was employed to analyze the metabolites of SiNPs-treated A549 cells.

New insights into mechanism of enhancing biogas residue dewaterability using carbon quantum dots and biochar composites under visible light through electrochemical approach.

This study investigated the treatment of biogas residue using a catalytic activation system with carbon quantum dots/biochar (CQDs/BC) and HO, driven by visible light. Results indicated that the charge transfer resistance (R) of CQDs/BC was 74.5 % lower than that of CQDs, with improved charge separation rates and enhanced light absorption.

Autophagy is a complex cellular process that can either promote or inhibit cancer progression and development, depending on the context and molecular regulation involved. This study investigates how LSD1 regulates autophagy in ovarian cancer by interacting with the autophagy protein LC3B. Utilizing the bioinformatic analysis of TCGA, CPTAC, and GEO datasets, as well as immunohistochemistry in ovarian cancer patients, we explored the expression association between LSD1 and LC3B.

Introduction: Dental pain is one of the most prevalent oral complaints. This study aimed to establish a Chinese version of Dental Pain Screening Questionnaire (DePaQ) to help classify patients into three groups of dental pain diseases (group 1, reversible pulpitis and dentine hypersensitivity; group 2, acute periapical periodontitis and irreversible pulpitis; and group 3, pericoronitis).

Methods: The DePaQ was translated from English to Chinese.

Polyethylene terephthalate microplastics (PET-MPs) have emerged as significant environmental pollutants with potential health risks. This study investigates the cytotoxic effects of PET-MPs on BEAS-2B lung epithelial cells through integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses. The results of the CCK8 assay showed a reduction in the viability of BEAS-2B cells following continuous exposure to PET-MPs.

Matching patients to clinical trials with large language models.

Patient recruitment is challenging for clinical trials. We introduce TrialGPT, an end-to-end framework for zero-shot patient-to-trial matching with large language models. TrialGPT comprises three modules: it first performs large-scale filtering to retrieve candidate trials (TrialGPT-Retrieval); then predicts criterion-level patient eligibility (TrialGPT-Matching); and finally generates trial-level scores (TrialGPT-Ranking).

Cadmium (Cd) is prevalent in aquatic ecosystems and accumulates in various tissues of aquatic organisms, leading to severe biological toxicity. Selenium (Se) is recognized for mitigating heavy metal toxicity, though its protective effects against Cd in aquatic crustaceans remain underexplored. This study, therefore, assessed the effects of dietary Cd (15 mg/kg) exposure and Se (6 mg/kg) supplementation on the hepatopancreas and ovaries of female crayfish to uncover the mechanisms of Cd toxicity and the protective role of Se.

High-performance human resource practices, organizational identification and employee commitment: the moderating role of organizational culture.

Purpose: Drawing on social exchange and social identity theories, this study examines the mediating role of organizational identification on the relationship between high-performance human resource practices (HPHRPs) and employee commitment. The study further examines the moderating role of organizational culture in this mediated relationship.

Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 340 employees from state-owned enterprises in China, and SPSS was used to test the hypothesized relationships.
