Effect and characterization of konjac glucomannan on xanthan gum/κ-carrageenan/agar system.

A mixed polysaccharide system is an important strategy to improve the performance of a single polysaccharide. Herein, quaternary polysaccharide gels were prepared by konjac glucomannan (KGM), xanthan gum (XG), κ-carrageenan (κ-CA), and agar (AR). The effects of KGM were evaluated by combining water holding capacity (WHC), rheological analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and texture profile analysis (TPA).

Unlabelled: The present study serves three main functions. First, it presents a novel random copolymer, made of octadecyl acrylate hydrophobic blocks and 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate hydrophilic groups, and it zwitterionic form. Second, random copolymer and zwitterionic random copolymer, OmDn and Z-OmDn, are used to modify polypropylene membranes by evaporation coating.

Third Wave of Influenza A(H7N9) Virus from Poultry, Guangdong Province, China, 2014-2015.

Fourteen influenza A(H7N9) viruses were isolated from poultry or the environment in live poultry markets in Guangdong Province, China during 2014-2015. Phylogenetic analysis showed that all viruses were descended from viruses of the second wave of influenza A(H7N9) virus infections during 2013. These viruses can be divided into 2 branches.
