Article Synopsis
  • Adeno-associated virus serotype 8 (AAV8) is a promising vector for gene therapy, but its purification is difficult due to low abundance and strict purity needs.
  • This study developed a nanobody (Nb)-based affinity chromatography resin, identifying Nb9 as the best candidate for effectively purifying AAV8 with high binding affinity and yield.
  • The purification method showed excellent specificity and consistency across multiple cycles, suggesting it could be a scalable and cost-effective solution for AAV8 purification and highlighting the potential of Nbs in biotechnology.

In our previous work, the concept of critical region in a generalized Aubry-André model (Ganeshan-Pixley-Das Sarma's model) has been established. In this work, we find that the critical region can be realized in a one-dimensional flat band lattice with a quasi-periodic potential. It is found that the above flat band lattice model can be reduced to an effective Ganeshan-Pixley-Das Sarma's model.

Polyimide (PI) aerogels have various applications in aerospace, national defense, military industry, and rail transit equipment. This paper reports a series of ultra-lightweight, high elasticity, high strength, low thermal conductivity, and high flame retardant rGO/PI nanocomposite aerogels prepared by the ice templating method. The effects of freezing processes (unidirectional freezing and random freezing), chemical composition, and environmental temperature (-196-200 °C) on the morphology, mechanical, and thermal properties of the aerogels were systematically studied.

Nanobodies (Nbs) represent a class of single-domain antibodies with great potential application value across diverse biotechnology fields, including therapy and diagnostics. Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin (TSLP) is an epithelial cell-derived cytokine, playing a crucial role in the regulation of type 2 immune responses at barrier surfaces such as skin and the respiratory/gastrointestinal tract. In this study, a method for the expression and purification of anti-TSLP nanobody (Nb3341) was established at 7 L scale and subsequently scaled up to 100 L scale.

We investigate the effects of disorder and shielding on quantum transports in a two dimensional system with all-to-all long range hopping. In the weak disorder, cooperative shielding manifests itself as perfect conducting channels identical to those of the short range model, as if the long range hopping does not exist. With increasing disorder, the average and fluctuation of conductance are larger than those in the short range model, since the shielding is effectively broken and therefore long range hopping starts to take effect.

A one-dimensional lattice model with mosaic quasiperiodic potential is found to exhibit interesting localization properties, e.g. clear mobility edges (Wang2020196604).

In this work, we investigate the bound states in the continuum (BIC) of a one-dimensional spin-1 flat band system. It is found that, when the potential is sufficiently strong, there exists an effective attractive potential well surrounded by infinitely high self-sustained barriers. Consequently, there exist some BIC in the effective potential well.

In this work, a Josephson relation is generalized to a multi-component fermion superfluid. Superfluid density is expressed through a two-particle Green function for pairing states. When the system has only one gapless collective excitation mode, the Josephson relation is simplified, which is given in terms of the superfluid order parameters and the trace of two-particle normal Green function.

The superfluid properties of attractive Hubbard model in dice lattice are investigated. It is found that three superfluid order parameters increase as the interaction increases. When the filling factor falls into the flat band, due to the infinite large density of states, the resultant superfluid order parameters are proportional to interaction strength, which is in striking contrast with the exponentially small counterparts in usual superfluid (or superconductor).

The molecular mechanisms how bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) differentiate into osteoblast need to be investigated. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) contribute to the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. However, the effect of miR-346-5p on osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs is not clear.

A rapid and sensitive method for classification of virgin and recycled expanded polystyrene (EPS) food containers was developed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and chemometrics. This method includes preparing a transparent film by dissolution, examining by FTIR and developing classification models. The degradation of EPS containers occurring during the recycling process was reflected by the carbonyl region of the infrared spectrum which was used as variables for multivariate data analysis.

Purpose: To explore the effects of autogenous bone particle/titanium fiber composites on repairing segmental bone defects in rabbits.

Materials And Methods: A model of bilateral radial bone defect was established in 36 New Zealand white rabbits which were randomly divided into 3 groups according to filling materials used for bilaterally defect treatment: in group C, 9 animal bone defect areas were prepared into simple bilateral radius bone defect (empty sham) as the control group; 27 rabbits were used in groups ABP and ABP-Ti. In group ABP, left defects were simply implanted with autogenous bone particles; meanwhile, group ABP-Ti animals had right defects implanted with autogenous bone particle/titanium fiber composites.

The confinement induced resonance provides an indispensable tool for the realization of the low-dimensional strongly interacting quantum system. Here, we investigate the confinement induced resonance in spin-orbit coupled cold atoms with Raman coupling. We find that the quasi-bound levels induced by the spin-orbit coupling and Raman coupling result in the Feshbach-type resonances.

Dihydroartemisinin (DHA) exhibits antitumor activity against a wide spectrum of cancer cells. However, whether DHA has anti-tumor effect on human osteosarcoma cells remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the anti-tumor activity of DHA and the underlying mechanisms in human osteosarcoma cell lines with different p53 mutation statuses.
