This study systematically analyzed the current status of outcomes in randomized controlled trial(RCT) of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) treatment of diabetic kidney disease(DKD), aiming to provide a reference for constructing the core outcome set(COS) of TCM treatment of DKD. The clinical RCTs of TCM treatment of DKD that were published from January 2019 to March 2024 were retrieved from seven databases: CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science. The risk of bias was assessed and outcome indicators were qualitatively analyzed.

Introduction: There is a notable scarcity of research examining the developmental trajectories of positive youth development (PYD) attributes among Chinese preadolescents and adolescents and the predictive effect of family functioning on these trajectories over time.

Methods: Using four waves of data, this longitudinal study investigated preadolescents and adolescents in China in January 2020 (T1), June 2020 (T2), June 2021 (T3), and June 2022 (T4). The study utilized the 90-item "Chinese Positive Youth Development Scale" and the 33-item "Chinese Family Assessment Instrument" to assess PYD and family functioning, respectively.

Nucleic acid and protein co-condensates exhibit diverse morphologies crucial for fundamental cellular processes. Despite many previous studies that advanced our understanding of this topic, several interesting biophysical questions regarding the underlying molecular mechanisms remain. We investigated DNA and human transcription factor p53 co-condensates-a scenario where neither dsDNA nor the protein demonstrates phase-separation behavior individually.

Introduction Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a global health concern and a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. COPD action plans help patients manage exacerbations by recognizing symptoms early and taking necessary steps. We found our COPD written action plan difficult to understand, potentially affecting the patient's ability to self-manage their COPD.

Background: Cognitive dysfunction caused by infection frequently emerges as a complication in sepsis survivor patients. However, a comprehensive understanding of its pathogenesis remains elusive.

Methods: In our in vivo experiments, an animal model of endotoxemia was employed, utilizing the Novel Object Recognition Test and Morris Water Maze Test to assess cognitive function.

Background: Acute liver failure (ALF) is a severe clinical syndrome characterized by massive hepatocyte death in a short time due to viruses, drugs, alcohol, or other factors. Oxidative stress is an important pathogenic mechanism of ALF. LPS-induced internalization of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and the subsequent activation of the toll/IL-1R domain-containing adaptor-inducing IFN-beta (TRIF) signaling pathway widely mediate inflammatory responses in a series of diseases.

Purpose: This investigation aims to explore the protective role of Naringenin (Nar) in bone cancer pain (BCP) via TNF-α-mediated NF-κB/uPA/PAR2 pathway.

Methods: BCP model was manipulated by the injection of LL2 cells into femur of mice. The levels of TNF-α and uPA in bone tissue and serum were studied by ELISA.

To study the difference of postoperative efficacy between two-person three-hand ear endoscopy and microscopic tympanoplasty in patients with chronic suppurative otitis media, and to explore the advantages and disadvantages of two-person three-hand ear endoscopy. A retrospective study was conducted on 100 patients who underwent tympanoplasty in the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of Hunan People's Hospital from April 2019 to March 2023, and they were divided into 2 groups with 50 cases each according to random number table method. Among them, 50 cases underwent endoscopic tympanoplasty in two-person three-hand(group A) and 50 cases underwent routine microscopic tympanoplasty(group B).

Background: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) has been associated with higher pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) risk in observational studies. However, the causal relationship between them remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the causal effect between T1DM and PTB using bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.

Purpose: Radiation-induced pneumonitis (RIP) seriously limits the application of radiation therapy in the treatment of thoracic tumors, and its etiology and pathogenesis remain elusive. This study aimed to elucidate the role of ubiquitin-specific peptidase 11 (USP11) in the progression of RIP and the associated underlying mechanisms.

Methods And Materials: Changes in cytokines and infiltrated immune cells were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and immunohistochemistry after exposure to 20 Gy x-ray with whole-thorax irradiation.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined binge eating (BE) and associated risk factors in 16-year-old Malaysian girls from two different types of public schools.
  • Results showed that 17.8% of participants experienced moderate-to-severe BE symptoms, with significant links to factors like loss of control (LOC) eating, body dissatisfaction, and anxiety.
  • The findings suggest that BE is common among these adolescents, indicating the need for early intervention and incorporation of body image education into school programs to prevent potential eating disorders.

Radiation-induced esophageal injury (RIEI) is a major dose-limiting complication of radiotherapy, mainly acute esophagitis. However, understanding of radiation injury and repair mechanisms in esophageal epithelial cells remains limited. MiR-132-3p and its uridylated isoform (miR-132-3p-UUU) are upregulated in radiation esophageal injury, yet their role in radiation-induced esophageal injury progression remains unexplored.

Silicosis is a worldwide serious occupational disease that is caused by inhalation of silica crystals. However, little is known about the pathogenesis mechanism of silicosis. We performed single-cell sequencing in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) from mine workers with silicosis and their co-workers who did not develop silicosis, and found that the RAB20 deficiency in monocytes/macrophages was strongly linked to the development of silicosis.

Silicosis is caused by inhalation of crystalline silica dust particles and known as one of the most serious occupational diseases worldwide. However, little is known about intrinsic factors leading to disease susceptibility. Single-cell sequencing of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells of mine workers with silicosis and their co-workers who did not develop silicosis revealed that the impaired interferon (IFN)-γ signaling in myeloid cells was strongly associated with the occurrence of silicosis.
