We followed the established method of testing biculturalism by priming participants with images from two different cultures and measuring whether those images activate different thought styles. Engineering microstructures of Pt and understanding the related catalytic mechanism are critical to optimizing the performance for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, Pt dispersion and coordination are precisely regulated on hierarchical nitrogen-doped carbon nanocages (hNCNCs) by a thermal-driven Pt migration, from edge-hosted Pt-NCl single sites in the initial Pt/hNCNC-70 °C catalyst to Pt clusters/nanoparticles and back to in-plane Pt-NC single sites. Thereinto, Pt-NCl presents the optimal HER activity (6 mV@10 mA cm) while Pt-NC shows poor HER activity (321 mV@10 mA cm) due to their different Pt coordination.

This paper proposes a novel process of cobalt monoxide (CoO)-activated peracetic acid (PAA) for treating emerging micropollutant in water. PAA was activated under neutral conditions by combining a dominant heterogeneous phase on the catalyst surface and a homogeneous phase by dissolved Co. The pursuit of carbon-neutral energy has intensified the interest in green hydrogen production from direct seawater electrolysis, given the scarcity of freshwater resources. While Ni-based catalysts are known for their robust activity in alkaline water oxidation, their catalytic sites are prone to rapid degradation in the chlorine-rich environments of seawater, leading to limited operation time. Herein, we report a Ni(OH) catalyst interfaced with laser-ablated LiFePO (Ni(OH)/L-LFP), derived from spent Li-ion batteries (LIBs), as an effective and stable electrocatalyst for direct seawater oxidation.

Background: The public order and safety (POS) sector remains susceptible to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreaks, as workplace attendance is typically compulsory and close physical contact is often needed. Here, we report on a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak with an attack rate of 39% (9/23), which occurred between 19 and 29 June 2021 among a cohort of new POS recruits participating in a mandatory 18-week training programme in England.
