Bisindole alkaloids constitute a significant class of natural compounds distinguished by their characteristic bisindole structure and renowned for their anticancer properties. Over the past six decades, researchers have isolated 425 microorganism-derived bisindole alkaloids (MDBAs). Among them, 187 MDBAs have demonstrated anticancer properties against various in vitro cancer cell lines, primarily by impeding the cell cycle, restraining cell proliferation, and inducing apoptosis and autophagy.

Despite the great progress in molecule photocatalytic solar energy conversion, it is particularly challenging to realize a photocatalytic overall reaction in a non-noble metal complex, which represents a new paradigm for photosynthesis. In this study, a class of novel non-noble metal complexes with head-to-tail geometry were designed and readily synthesized via the coordination of triphenylamine-modified 2,2': 6',2″-terpyridine ligands with Zn. As expected, these complexes exhibited the desired through-space charge-transfer transition, generating both long-lived excited states (on the order of microseconds) and separate redox centers under visible-light irradiation.

Fourteen undescribed sesquiterpenes, named curcumaones A-N (1-14), as well as forty-four (15-58) known ones, were isolated from the secondary rhizomes of Curcuma wenyujin. The structures and absolute configurations of 1-14 were elucidated based on NMR spectroscopic analyses, high resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (HRESIMS) data and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectral analysis. Among these, five sesquiterpenes with the peroxide linkage (1-5) were obtained and the change of chemical shift between the α-C connecting the peroxide linkage and the oxygen atom has been discussed.

Background And Objectives: Acoustofluidic manipulation of particles and biological cells has been widely applied in various biomedical and engineering applications, including effective separation of cancer cell, point-of-care diagnosis, and cell patterning for tissue engineering. It is often implemented within a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microchannel, where standing surface acoustic waves (SSAW) are generated by sending two counter-propagating ultrasonic waves on a piezoelectric substrate.

Methods: In this paper, we develop a full cross-sectional model of the acoustofluidic device using finite element method, simulating the wave excitation on the substrate and wave propagation in both the fluid and the microchannel wall.

Understanding the effect of clay on the mechanical properties and strength criteria of hydrate-bearing sediments (HBS) is essential for evaluating the safety of clay-rich reservoirs. In this study, a series of triaxial shear tests were conducted to investigate the impacts of clay type and content on the mechanical behavior of I-HBS (hydrate-bearing sediments containing illite) and M-HBS (hydrate-bearing sediments containing montmorillonite). The findings reveal that M-HBS exhibit greater susceptibility to strain hardening compared to I-HBS, accompanied by more extensive volume deformation, and both strain hardening and shear shrinkage intensify with increasing clay content.

In this study, we successfully synthesized a δ-MnO cathode with O vacancies, encapsulated by C derived from pyromellitic acid, using a facile hydrothermal method followed by annealing in an Ar atmosphere. The cathode's structural stability and charge transfer kinetics are enhanced by inhibiting the formation of the by-product ZnSO(OH)·4HO, regulating the Mn valence state, and suppressing the Jahn-Teller effect through the synergy of C encapsulation and O vacancies.
