Lipid droplets (LDs), as innate immune hubs, function in the front line of antimicrobial defense involved in the host-pathogen arms race. Malignant ascites (MA) presents a complex clinical challenge, linked inextricably to poor prognosis, chemoresistance, and metastasis of peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). Detection of biomarkers of breast cancer incurs additional costs and tissue burden. We propose a deep learning-based algorithm (BBMIL) to predict classical biomarkers, immunotherapy-associated gene signatures, and prognosis-associated subtypes directly from hematoxylin and eosin stained histopathology images. BBMIL showed the best performance among comparative algorithms on the prediction of classical biomarkers, immunotherapy related gene signatures, and subtypes.

Effective hydrolysis of lignocelluloses for producing reducing sugar is impeded by the covalent binding of hemicellulose and cellulose through lignin, which could be eliminated by laccases. This study identified a novel thermostable laccase from Bacillus safensis TCCC 111022 and created an iterative mutant E231D/Y441H, exhibiting 1.59-fold greater specific activity and a 183 % greater half-life at 80°C than the wild-type enzyme.

In vitro cell biology experiments are routinely used to characterize cell migration properties under various experimental conditions. These experiments can be interpreted using lattice-based random walk models to provide insight into underlying biological mechanisms, and continuum limit partial differential equation (PDE) descriptions of the stochastic models can be used to efficiently explore model properties instead of relying on repeated stochastic simulations. Fast and accurate assessment of skin mechanics holds great promise in diagnosing various epidermal diseases, yet substantial challenges remain in developing simple and wearable strategies for continuous monitoring. Here, we present a design concept, named active near-infrared spectroscopy patch (ANIRP) for continuously mapping skin mechanics. ANIRP addresses these challenges by integrating near-infrared (NIR) sensing with mechanical actuators, enabling rapid measurement (<1 s) of Young's modulus, high spatial sensing density (~1 cm), and high spatial sensitivity (<1 mm).
