Nickel stands as one of the prevalent contact allergens, but acquired nail hypertrophy presenting as ACD due to nickel exposure is infrequent. Here we report a case of acquired nail hypertrophy stemming from ACD due to nickel, displaying an uneven coloration, along with nail grooves, deck distortion damage, small surface pits and ecchymosis beneath the damaged deck. The patient limited nickel contact and recovered after 11 months of follow-up.

Given the lack of head-to-head studies of novel non-steroidal molecule topical therapies in mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis (AD), network meta-analyses (NMAs) can provide comparative efficacy and safety data for clinical decision-making. In this NMA, we performed a literature search until 01 March 2023 for eligible studies written in English using databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov.

Reconstructing a spline surface from a given arbitrary topological triangle mesh is a fundamental and challenging problem in computer-aided design and engineering. This article introduces a novel surface fitting method utilizing G-NURBS capable of handling control meshes with arbitrary topologies. This method employs adaptive control point adjustment, guided by the geometric attributes of the input model, ensuring precise representation of sharp features such as edges and corners.

Identification of a more suitable sample source could be a breakthrough towards enhancing CTC detectability in early-stage lung cancer. We investigated the differences in detectable CTCs between peripheral arterial and venous blood in early- and mid-stage lung cancer patients undergoing surgery and analyzed the association between clinicopathological factors and detectable CTCs in peripheral arterial and venous blood.

These methods fail to work well on extraordinary points (EPs) whose edges have varying knot intervals. This article presents a patching solution for arbitrary topological 2-manifold control grid with non-uniform knots that defines one bi-cubic Bézier patch per control grid face except those faces with EPs.

Background: Cold exposure has been considered an essential risk factor for the global disease burden, while its role in cardiovascular diseases is still underappreciated. The increase in frequency and duration of extreme cold weather events like cold spells makes it an urgent task to evaluate the effects of ambient cold on different types of cardiovascular disease and to understand the factors contributing to the population's vulnerability.
Methods: In the present systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane.
Objective: To compare neoadjuvant chemotherapy (nCT) with CAPOX alone versus neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) with capecitabine in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) with uninvolved mesorectal fascia (MRF).
Background Data: nCRT is associated with higher surgical complications, worse long-term functional outcomes, and questionable survival benefits. Comparatively, nCT alone seems a promising alternative treatment in lower-risk LARC patients with uninvolved MRF.
Combining computer-aided design and computer numerical control (CNC) with global technical connections have become interesting topics in the manufacturing industry. A framework was implemented that includes point clouds to workpieces and consists of a mesh generation from geometric data, optimal surface segmentation for CNC, and tool path planning with a certified scallop height. The latest methods were introduced into the mesh generation with implicit geometric regularization and total generalized variation.

Although laparoscopic-assisted complete mesocolic excision (LCME) is a superior treatment, there are few studies available on it owe to the low incidence and technical difficulty of LCME in transverse colon cancer.
Methods: The clinical data of 78 patients with transverse colon cancer who were treated by LCME and open complete mesocolic excision (OCME) were retrospectively analyzed.
Colorectal cancer(CRC) is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in human beings and metastasis is the main death reason. Recently, Gli1 has been reported to be a key regulator of various cancer biologies and genes expressions. However, the detailed molecular mechanism of Gli1 in CRC metastasis remains largely unknown.

Objective: To observe the effects of galectin-3 on proliferation and apoptosis of hepatic stellate cells.
Methods: RT-PCR and Western blot were used to detect the expression of galectin-3 in hepatic stellate cells. Short hairpin DNA targeting galectin-3 of rat was was ligated into the recombinant vector pGCsilencer U6/Neo/GFP/shRNA plasmid.
