Lanthanide-containing luminescent hydrogels have shown potential for sensing and imaging applications. Nonetheless, integrating lanthanide ions or complexes into the polymer matrix often results in the poor stability and mechanical strength of the hydrogels. This work presents an innovative approach to fabricating luminescent hydrogels with three dynamic cross-links: imine bond, boronate ester bond, and metal-ligand coordination.

Acetyl coenzyme A (Ac-CoA)-dependent N-acetylation is performed by arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase (AANAT) and is important in many biofunctions. AANAT catalyzes N-acetylation through an ordered sequential mechanism in which cofactor (Ac-CoA) binds first, with substrate binding afterward. No ternary structure containing AANAT, cofactor, and substrate was determined, meaning the details of substrate binding and product release remain unclear.

Lung cancers have a predilection for metastasizing to bone. The matricellular glycoprotein thrombospondin (TSP)-2 regulates multiple biological functions and has a critical role in tumor development and metastasis, although its effects are uncertain in lung cancer bone metastasis. This study demonstrates that TSP-2 expression is highly correlated with lung cancer tumor stage and that the TSP-2 neutralizing antibody reduces osteoclast formation in conditioned medium obtained from lung cancer cells.
