Thermocatalytic hydrolysis of perfluorocarbons (PFCs) is a promising way to reduce their emission and environmental hazards. However, hydrolysis of PFCs, such as CF, usually suffers from a drastic activity decline during the induction period, which seriously hinders its conversion performances and practical applications. In this work, we found that the carbonaceous (*COO) species account for the activity decline during the induction period, and their detoxification could promote PFC hydrolysis at low temperature.

Objective: To observe the effect of astragaloside on oxidative low-density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL) mediated oxidative damage of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs).
Methods: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) were isolated by Ficoll density gradient centrifugation, and EPCs were identified by flow cytometry. Adherent cells were collected after seven-day incubation and randomly divided into the normal control group, the Ox-LDL group (as the model group, at the dose of 100 microg/mL), the low, middle, and high astragaloside groups (with 100 microg/mL Ox-LDL plus 2, 10, and 50 microg/mL astragaloside).
Objective: To explore the effects of Shengmai injection and Xuesaitong injection, compound Chinese herbal medicines for replenishing qi and activating blood, on ventricular fibrillation threshold, heart structure and connexin 43 (Cx43) expression in rats with myocardial infarction (MI).
Methods: One hundred male SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation group, model group, Yiqi Huoxue (YQHX) group (Shengmai injection plus Xuesaitong injection) and captopril group. MI model of rats was established by ligating left anterior descending coronary artery, and rats in sham operation group were prepared in the same way except for the ligation of coronary artery.

Objective: To investigate the antagonizing effect of Hirsutella sinensis (HS) on renal tubular epithelial-myofibroblast transdifferentiation (TEMT) and its possible pathogenic mechanism in rats with chronic aristolochic acid nephropathy (CAAN).
Methods: Eighteen male Sprague-Dawley rats were equally divided into 3 groups, the model (M) group, the intervention (I) group and the control (C) group. The 24 h urinary protein (UP) in rats was measured before intervention and at the end of the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 12th week, and creatinine clearance rate (CCr) was measured before intervention and at the end of the 12th week respectively.

Objective: To observe the effect of Shenfu Injection (SFI) for attenuating the toxicity of chemotherapy in treating non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), by the regimens of combined Cisplatin (DDP) with new chemotherapeutic agents, Taxol (TXT), Vinorelbine (NVB) and Gemcitabine (GEM), respectively.
Methods: One hundred and thirty-three patients with NSCLC, who were scheduled to be treated by at least 2 cycles of chemotherapy, with regimen TP (45 cases), NP (42 cases) and GP (46 cases), were enrolled. They were randomized into 2 groups: 67 cases in the SFI pre-treated group and 66 cases in the SFI post-treated group, on them SFI was administered for 10 successive days on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd day of the 1st and the 2nd cycle, respectively.
Objective: To investigate the clinical effects and security of YiSuiShengXueGranule (YSSXG) on treating 156 patients with beta-thalassemia major.
Methods: YSSXG was given orally to 156 patients with beta-thalassemia in GuangXi Autonomous Region (the high incidence area of beta-thalassemia in China) for 3 months as one therapeutic course, 3 times a day, 10 g each time (for children, the dose should be reduced properly according to their body weight and age), and no blood transfusion used during the course. Clinical symptoms and levels of hemoglobin (Hb), red blood cell (RBC), reticulocyte (Ret) and hemoglobin F (HbF) were observed before and after treatment, and side-effects were observed during the course.

Methods: One hundred and eight patients with CPS were randomly assigned to two groups, the treatment group (56 cases) treated with TTI) and the control group (52 cases) with terazosin tablet, both for 60 days. Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of Yisui Shengxue Granule (YSSXG), a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, in treating beta-thalassemia.
Methods: A randomized single-blinded trial was designed. Sixty patients with beta-thalassemia were divided into two groups: 30 patients in YSSXG-treated group and 30 in placebo parallel-control group.
Objective: To evaluate the effects of Yisui Shengxue Granules on expressions of alpha-hemoglobin stabilizing protein (AHSP) and erythroid transcription factor GATA-1 mRNAs in bone marrow of patients with beta-thalassemia, and to explore its possible molecular mechanism.
Methods: Twelve patients with beta-thalassemia intermedia were treated with Yisui Shengxue Granules for three months. The blood indexes including hemoglobin (Hb), RBC, fetal hemoglobin (HbF) and reticulated corpuscles (Ret) were examined before and after treatment.
