Background: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been used as indicators of inflammation, however, their roles in dry eye disease (DED) patients require advanced study.
Materials And Methods: A total of 104 DED cases and 97 healthy controls from January 2020 to May 2020 were enrolled in this study. The dry eye related clinical variables, including Schirmer I test, tear break-up time (TBUT), corneal fluorescein staining (CFS) and Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), were detected in all the participants.
Background: Hyperosmosis stress (HS) was a key pathological factor in the development of dry eye disease (DED). Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) demonstrated protective effects in the corneal damage, however, its role in the HS-induced DED remained unclear.
Methods: A NaCl based HS in-vitro model (500 mOsm) was generated and used in a co-culture system including corneal epithelial cells (CEC) and macrophage cell line RAW264.
BACKGROUND Dry eye disease (DED) is a chronic dysfunction of the ocular surface and has become an important public problem. Vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphism has been found to be associated with different kinds of diseases. The relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the VDR gene should be studied.

Methods: A consummate literature search of PubMed, EMBASE, and web of science was conducted until July 2016.
Background: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the most common causes of adult blindness in developed countries. However, the role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the development and progression of early AMD is unclear.
Methods: We established the lncRNA profile of early AMD by reannotation of microarrays from the gene expression omnibus database.
BACKGROUND To determine the association between serum 25(OH)D and dry eye syndrome (DES) incidence. This study was also designed to determine whether serum 25(OH)D levels were associated with ocular parameter of DES patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS This is a case-control study with 70 DES cases and 70 healthy controls.

The associations of alcohol intake with DR risk have demonstrated contradictory results. Relevant studies were identified by searching electronic databases (Medline, EMBASE and Web of Science) until May 2016.

The aim of the current meta-analysis and systematic review was to quantitatively evaluate findings from observational studies on fish consumption and the risk of AMD. Relevant studies were identified by searching electronic databases (Medline and EMBASE) and reviewing the reference lists of relevant articles up to August, 2016.

The antioxidative effects of curcumin on aging retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells are still unclear. We conducted an in vitro study to investigate the effects of curcumin on aging RPE cells.

The current study investigated the potential association between antiphospholipid antibodies (APLA) and RVO risk by conducting a meta-analysis of case-control studies.
Methods: A systematic literature search of Pubmed and Embase databases was conducted in August 1st, 2014.
