Article Synopsis
  • - This study investigates how body mass index (BMI) affects bone turnover markers in girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty (ICPP), focusing on their weight status at diagnosis.
  • - Three groups were formed based on weight status: normal weight, overweight, and obese. Results showed significant differences in serum propeptide levels among these groups, with BMI being inversely related to bone formation markers.
  • - The conclusions highlight that higher BMI is linked to reduced bone formation in overweight and obese girls with ICPP, suggesting that monitoring body weight and bone health is crucial during their diagnosis and treatment.

Objective: To isolate and identify lead-resistant Lactobacillus casei strains with lead adsorption ability from the stool of healthy newborns as a new source of bacteria for developing lead-eliminating food products.

Methods: MRS was used to isolate lead-resistant bacteria from the feces of 30 healthy and full-term neonates. A phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the morphological characteristics and 16S rRNA sequences of the isolated bacteria.

An experimental setup is built for the measurement of monochromatic incident photon-to-electron conversion efficiency (IPCE) of solar cells. With this setup, three kinds of IPCE measuring methods as well as the convenient switching between them are achieved. The setup can also measure the response time and waveform of the short-circuit current of solar cell.
