Background: Persistent macrophage infiltration may lead to adverse consequences, such as calcifications and nodules in fat grafts. Lymphatic vessels, which transport inflammatory cells, are involved in regulating inflammatory responses. Less is known, however, about lymphatic vessels after fat grafting.

Background: In plastic surgery tissue transplantation, tissue ischemia limits transplanted tissue survival. Adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) and stromal vascular fraction (SVF) show potential for promoting angiogenesis and rescuing ischemic conditions. However, when SVF and ASC suspensions are utilized without the protection of extracellular matrix, the retention rate of transplanted cells tends to be diminished, leading to an unsatisfactory therapeutic outcome.

Purpose: To determine the advantages of next-generation metagenomic sequencing (mNGS) technology in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious keratitis (IK).

Methods: A total of 287 patients with IK admitted to the Department of Ophthalmology of Nanjing First Hospital between August 2018 and December 2022 were analyzed retrospectively, and the pathogenic causes, etiological characteristics, detection, treatment methods, and efficacy were summarized.

Results: Trauma and foreign matter were the most common causes of IK (144 patients, 50.

Understanding the intricate relationship between prognosis, immune function, and molecular markers in bladder cancer (BC) demands sophisticated analytical methods. To identify novel biomarkers for predicting prognosis and immune function in BC patients, we combined weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis. This was conducted using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases.

Article Synopsis
  • Spinocerebellar ataxia 2 (SCA2) can look a lot like Parkinson's disease (PD) but has some differences.
  • The study compared symptoms and brain scans of patients with ATXN2-related parkinsonism (ATXN2-P) and another type of PD.
  • Results showed that ATXN2-P had less trembling and more balanced symptoms, with different brain scan results, which could help doctors tell them apart.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study included 832 patients, focusing on those with early-onset and familial late-onset PD, revealing that 30% of early-onset patients had pathogenic variants in known PD-related genes, with PRKN being the most common.
  • * For familial late-onset patients, 8.67% had pathogenic variants in PD-related genes, with heterozygous GBA variants being the most prevalent; genetic testing is crucial for accurate diagnosis in these cases.

Becker's nevus (BN) manifests as a hyperpigmented, sometimes hypertrichotic plaque/patch over the chest and shoulder, and it is in the category of benign cutaneous hamartomas. BN has elongation and fusion of the rete ridge, keratotic plugging, sebaceous hyperplasia, smooth muscle hyperplasia, and hyperpigmentation of the basal/suprabasal layer histologically. This article highlights all issues involved in pathogenesis and treatment options of BN.
