Objectives: To compare the clinical effectiveness of a novel bioceramic (BC) with a control xenograft (BO) for guided bone regeneration (GBR) performed simultaneously with implant placement.
Materials And Methods: This clinical study enrolled patients with insufficient bone volume who required GBR during implant placement to increase bone width using either BC or BO. Outcome measures included a dimensional reduction in buccal bone thickness measured by cone beam computed tomography performed immediately post-surgery and at 6 months postoperatively (ΔHBBT), soft tissue healing at 14 days, 1 month, and 6 months postoperatively, and complications rates.
Enhancement of the mechanical and biological properties of dental restoration materials is of significant importance. Drawing inspiration from the architecture and mechanical properties of natural nacre, we employed a low-cost accumulative rolling process to develop resin-ceramic composites with suitable hardness and high toughness. Plate-like aluminum oxide powder with diameters of 5-10 μm and nano-zinc oxide (ZnO) with antibacterial properties were mixed as the ceramic phase of the composite.

Methods: Twenty cadaver specimens were randomly assigned to the robot-assisted group and freehand groups. Three screws were placed percutaneously to fix the capitate-lunate joint, lunate-triquetrum joint, and triquetrum-hamate-capitate joint in each specimen by robot-assisted or freehand technique.
This study describes patient-reported outcomes of robot-assisted percutaneous scaphoid fracture fixation of 62 patients from two medical centres and the learning curve of this new technique. One attempt to place the guidewire was sufficient in 97% of cases. All fractures achieved radiographic union at a mean of 9 weeks.

We propose a novel minimally invasive (MIS) technique of arthroscopic bone grafting (ABG) with robot-assisted fixation for the treatment of scaphoid nonunions.
Methods: Patients with radiographically proven scaphoid nonunion treated by this novel surgical technique were included.
Purposes: To compare the robotic-assisted and the traditional freehand percutaneous scaphoid fixation in number of guidewire attempts, duration of fluoroscopy time, amount of radiation dose, and screw centrality.
Methods: Twenty cadaveric specimens were randomized into either the robotic or freehand group. The scaphoids in both groups were fixed by either the same attending or resident from our hand surgery department.

IL-33 is a relatively new member of the IL-1 cytokine family, which plays a unique role in autoimmune diseases, particularly some oral diseases dominated by immune factors. The IL-33/ST2 axis is the main pathway by which IL-33 signals affect downstream cells to produce an inflammatory response or tissue repair. As a newly discovered pro-inflammatory cytokine, IL-33 can participate in the pathogenesis of autoimmune oral diseases such as Sjogren's syndrome and Behcet's disease.

Objective: To compare the parameters of screw implantation in capitolunate arthrodesis between the 2nd and 3rd metacarpal bones and via the distal dorsal capitate bone approach based on CT images of the normal wrist, and provide reference for the selection of surgical approaches and planning of screw insertion trajectory.
Methods: CT data of 50 patients who met the criteria between February 2022 and April 2022 were selected as the study objects. There were 30 males and 20 females, and the age ranged from 18 to 69 years (mean, 37 years).

A dataset of 1918 wrist radiographs (600 patients) was taken from an orthopaedic referral centre between 2010 to 2020. Titanium-magnesium composites have gained increasing attention as a partially degradable biomaterial recently. The titanium-magnesium composite combines the bioactivity of magnesium and the good mechanical properties of titanium. Here, we discuss the limitations of conventional mechanically alloyed titanium-magnesium alloys for bioimplants, in addition we summarize three suitable methods for the preparation of titanium-magnesium composites for bioimplants by melt: infiltration casting, powder metallurgy and hot rotary swaging, with a description of the advantages and disadvantages of all three methods.
