Microplastic pollution is a growing global environmental concern, significantly impacting aquatic ecosystems. In metal mining regions, acid mine drainage (AMD) can exacerbate the issue as microplastics may carry heavy metals, heightening the risks to both human health and ecosystems. AMD can also form a distinct plastisphere further influencing the behavior and distribution of heavy metals.

Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) employing high-voltage cathode present a promising pathway toward high-energy-density energy storage systems. However, critical challenges have hindered their practical application, including lithium dendrite proliferation, unstable solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI), and limited oxidative stability of conventional 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME)-based electrolytes. Herein, we rationally design a siloxane-based electrolyte system featuring enhanced oxidative stability through solvent molecular engineering.

The self-limiting Cabrera-Mott oxidation reaction on metal surfaces provides an effective pathway for synthesizing atomically thin 2D metal oxide. Inspired by this reaction, it is proposed that solid bismuth metals can react with dissolved oxygen and water molecules in an aqueous environment, forming an ultrathin oxyhydroxide layer on their surfaces. The lattice mismatch between the surface oxyhydroxide layer and the underlying pure metal enables the mechanical exfoliation of detached 2D oxyhydroxide nanosheets.

Although many protocols have been developed to enhance the ionic conductivity and lithium-ion transference numbers of the solid polymer electrolyte, it is still challenging to improve them simultaneously. Herein, we design and prepare boron-doped graphene (BG) as an anion trapper and blend it within a poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-based electrolyte. The well-dispersed BG sheets can reduce the crystallinity of PEO and afford numerous Lewis acid sites to effectively accelerate the dissociation of the lithium salt and trap the anions.

In this study, layered chitosan-based magnetic nickel ferrite NiFeO/chitosan (CS-LDO) composites were synthesized. The results show that under optimal conditions, 98 % of methylene blue (MB) and 92 % of xylenol orange (XO) can be simultaneously degraded within 120 min in the CS-LDO/persulfate (PS) system, and the removal rates of total organic carbon (TOC) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) can reach 67.32 % and 74.

Background And Aim: The prevalence of childhood leukemia in China has been on the rise, imposing significant psychological burden on parents. Currently, few studies have explored the dyadic coping status of parents of children with leukemia and its influencing factors. This study aimed to investigate the associations among dyadic coping, self-efficacy, anxiety and depression in parents of children with leukemia.

The Asian summer monsoon (ASM) is an important component of the global climate system. Cave oxygen isotope (δO) records from the region have well characterized the ASM millennial-scale climate variability (MCV) over the last 640 ka, with especially detailed insights for the most recent 60 ka, but little is known about ASM variability beyond the U-Th dating limit of ∼640 ka. Furthermore, questions remain regarding the climatic significance of millennial-scale ASM variability recorded among various climate archives, particularly in the context of the "orbital-scale paradox".

Polyhalogenated carbazoles are a class of emerging organic compounds characterized by the substitution of one to eight hydrogen atoms in the carbazole structure with halogen atom(s). Polyhalogenated carbazoles originate from natural and anthropogenic sources and are widely distributed in the environment. They are persistent in the environment and present a range of toxic effects, notably dioxin-like activity.

Adult T cell leukemia (ATL) is a highly aggressive T cell malignancy characterized by human T cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) infection. ATL has a very poor prognosis and lacks satisfactory treatments; therefore, it is critical to identify potential targets in ATL cells in order to develop effective targeted therapeutics. Here, we report the identification of two oncogenes, AK4 and RHOC, as target genes of miR-455-3p, a tumor-suppressive microRNA in ATL patients.

Proximity labeling platforms (PLPs) have become a powerful tool for studying spatial cell-cell interactions (CCIs) in living organisms. However, their effectiveness often relies on membranal catalytic modules of bait cells, such as natural enzymes or small-molecule photocatalysts, which are typically constrained by complex genetic modifications or the limited applicability of visible light. Here, we present a novel chemocatalytic approach, ArM-Tag, which utilizes an engineered artificial metalloenzyme (ArM) for cell surface-localized tagging.

Tracheal, bronchial, and lung cancer (TBL) is among the most common malignancies worldwide, with persistently high incidence and mortality rates, posing a significant threat to public health. However, existing studies on TBL disease burden are often limited to specific regions or short-term trends, lacking systematic and predictive analyses. This study comprehensively evaluated the global, regional, and national burden of TBL across 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021, utilizing predictive models to estimate trends from 2022 to 2035.

Diaphragmatic excursion is a crucial predictor of extubation outcomes in subjects on mechanical ventilation. However, its measurement can be influenced by various factors, which leads to inconsistent optimal thresholds and accuracy. Tissue Doppler imaging variables of the diaphragm have been established as reliable indicators for predicting extubation outcomes.

Introduction: Various acupuncture techniques are widely applied in clinics for pain control and dysfunction relief in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). The purpose of this trial was to investigate whether the different acupuncture techniques were more effective in treating joint pain and dysfunction than were sham acupuncture or drug treatment in patients with KOA and to determine the differences in efficacy among them.

Methods: In this multi-center, single-blind, randomized, controlled trial, participants were randomly assigned to the manual acupuncture (MA), electroacupuncture (EA), warm-needling acupuncture (WA), mild moxibustion (MM), sham acupuncture (SA), or drug treatment (Celebrex) groups.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a growing public health concern, particularly in regions with diverse ethnic populations. Understanding the incidence and risk factors of GDM is crucial for early prevention and management, especially in underrepresented areas like Guizhou Province, China, where geographic and ethnic diversity may influence the disease's prevalence and risk profiles.

Aim: To investigate the incidence of GDM and identify its associated risk and protective factors among different ethnic groups in Guizhou Province, providing essential data for early prevention strategies.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a leading cause of low back pain, with limited effective treatments due to an incomplete understanding of disease mechanisms. In this study, we report that circFUNDC1, a nuclear circular RNA, is markedly downregulated in nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) from patients with end-stage IVDD. CircFUNDC1 is derived from the gene encoding the FUN14 domain-containing 1 (FUNDC1) protein, which is essential for mitophagy and cell survival.

Purpose: Carbapenem-resistant organisms (CROs) have been listed as the primary risk resistance bacteria due to their high detection rates and extensive drug resistance. Research on the effectiveness of CRO intervention programs in secondary hospitals is limited. This study aims to observe the effect of multidisciplinary-based and bundle interventions under PDCA (plan-do-check-act) cycle management on the control of CROs in neurosurgery.

Microbial proliferation presents a significant challenge in membrane-based water for injection (WFI) production, particularly in systems with storage and ambient distribution, commonly refered to as cold WFI production. A comprehensive microbial risk assessment of membrane-based WFI systems was performed by employing Fuzzy-Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (Fuzzy-FMEA) to evaluate the potential microbial risks. Failure modes were identified and prioritized based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN), with appropriate preventive measures recommended to control failure modes that could increase the microbial load and mitigate their impact.
