This study focuses on αKG-NHFe enzyme FtmOx1, which catalyzes endoperoxidation, dealkylation, and alcohol oxidation reactions in verruculogen biosynthesis. We explore the hypothesis that the conformational dynamics of the active site Y224 confer the multifunctional activities of FtmOx1-catalysis.

It has been nearly two decades since the term "protein corona" was coined. This term has since evolved to "biomolecular corona" or "biocorona" to capture the diverse biomolecules that spontaneously form on the surface of nanoparticles upon exposure to biological fluids and drive nanoparticle interactions with biological systems. In this Perspective, we highlight the significant progress in this field, including studies on nonprotein corona components, lipid nanoparticles, and the role of the corona in endogenous organ targeting.

Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) have emerged as promising carriers to efficiently transport mRNA into cells for protein translation, as seen with the mRNA vaccines used against COVID-19. However, they contain a widely used polymer - poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) - which lacks the functionality to be easily modified (which could effectively control the physicochemical properties of the LNPs such as its charge), and is also known to be immunogenic.
