The bone repair requires the bone scaffolds to meet various mechanical and biological requirements, which makes the design of bone scaffolds a challenging problem. Novel triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS)-based bone scaffolds were designed in this study to improve the mechanical and biological performances simultaneously. The novel bone scaffolds were designed by adding optimization-guided multi-functional pores to the original scaffolds, and finite element (FE) method was used to evaluate the performances of the novel scaffolds.

This paper proposed an event-driven clockless level-crossing ADC (LC-ADC) suitable for biomedical applications. Thanks to the LC loop, the sampling rate of the converter automatically adapts to the input activities. Activity-dependent power consumption and data compression can thus be realized, saving system power, especially during time-sparse signal acquisition.

Despite its known involvement in regulating leukemia and melanoma, the function and mechanism of DNAJC1 in GBM remain poorly understood.
Methods: Utilizing data from the TCGA, CGGA, and GEO databases, we investigated the expression pattern of DNAJC1 and its correlation with clinical characteristics in GBM specimens.
Background: Glioma, a prevalent malignancy of the brain and spinal cord, poses a considerable threat to human health. The association between aberrant sialic acid modification and glioma progression has been suggested, but the precise mechanism is still elusive. ST3GAL4, a sialoglycosyltransferase, is implicated in increased metastatic potential and poor prognosis in various cancers; however, its specific role in glioma requires further elucidation.

The use of challenge-based learning, a student-centred situational learning method that utilizes practice scenarios to solve complex problems, can help alleviate the challenges in nurse education. However, there remains to be more extensive exploration on the application of challenge-based learning in nurse practice education.

Methods: We analyzed PLEKHA4 expression in tumor tissues using the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases.
Background: Chimeric antigen receptor macrophage (CAR-M) therapy is a novel cancer immunotherapy approach that integrates CAR structure and macrophage functions. CAR-M therapy has shown unique and impressive antitumor effects in immunotherapy for solid tumors. However, the polarization state of macrophages can affect the antitumor effect of CAR-M.

To select the most appropriate internal fixation method based on the Pauwels angle, in order to provide a new concept for clinical accurate treatment of femoral neck fractures (FNFs). FNFs models of Pauwels ; ; ; were created respectively. For Pauwels ≤ , 1, 2 and 3 Cannulated Compression Screws (CCS) and Porous Tantalum Screws (PTS) were used to fix the fracture for the models.

Furthermore, there is no consensus on the setting of each parameter in the CNN model. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the sensitivity of the parameters in the CNN model for the prediction of the mechanical property of porous structures.

However, the design maps of TPMS scaffolds, especially considering the AM constraints, remain unclear, which has hindered the design and application of TPMS scaffolds.

The role of MYSM1, a metalloprotease that deubiquitinates monoubiquitinated histone H2A, in colorectal cancer was identified to evaluate its potential clinical application value.
Methods: MYSM1 expression levels in CRC cell lines and tumor tissues were detected, and their associations with patient survival rate and clinical stage were analyzed using databases and tissue microarrays.
The tripartite motif-containing protein 21 (TRIM21) plays important roles in autophagy and innate immunity. Here, we found that HECT and RLD domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 5 (HERC5), as an interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) E3 ligase, catalyzes the ISGylation of TRIM21 at the Lys260 and Lys279 residues. Moreover, IFN-β also induces TRIM21 ISGylation at multiple lysine residues, thereby enhancing its E3 ligase activity for K63-linkage-specific ubiquitination and resulting in increased levels of TRIM21 and p62 K63-linked ubiquitination.

Theoretical simulations indicated that the surface plasmon resonance wavelength depended on the diameter and space of Ag NP arrays. By introducing Ag NP arrays with the diameter of 40 nm and space of 100 nm, the photoluminescence intensity of the near band-edge emission from ZnO was twofold enhanced.

Background: Glioma, characterized by its undesirable prognosis and poor survival rate, is a serious threat to human health and lives. MicroRNA-9 (miR-9) is implicated in the regulation of multiple tumors, while the mechanisms underlying its aberrant expression and functional alterations in human glioma are still controversial.
Methods: Expressions of miR-9 were measured in GEO database, patient specimens and glioma cell lines.
Human colorectal cancer (CRC), characterized by its high morbidity and lethality, seriously threatens human health and lives. MicroRNA-487b (miR-487b) is currently reported to be aberrantly expressed in several tumors, but the detailed functions and underlying mechanisms of miR-487b in CRC remain unclear. Here, we found that miR-487b is downregulated in CRC cell lines and is markedly decreased in tumor specimens derived from CRC patients.

However, conventional MYSM1 knockouts cause partial embryonic lethality and growth retardation, and it is difficult to convincingly remove the effects of environmental factors on HSC differentiation and function. MATERIAL AND METHODS MYSM1 conditional knockout (cKO) mice were efficiently induced by using the Vav1-cre transgenic system.

Because dysregulation of histone deacetylase and DNA methyltransferases are hallmarks of malignancy, they have become promising therapeutic targets. In this study, we explored the anti-tumor activity of valproic acid (VPA), a histone deacetylase inhibitor (HDACi) and 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza), an inhibitor of DNA methyltransferases, on renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cell lines 786-O and 769-P.
