CCT2 serves as an aggrephagy receptor that plays a crucial role in the clearance of solid aggregates, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms by which CCT2 regulates solid aggrephagy are not fully understood. Here we report that the binding of Cct2 to Atg8 is governed by two distinct regulatory mechanisms: Atg1-mediated Cct2 phosphorylation and the interaction between Cct2 and Atg11. Atg1 phosphorylates Cct2 at Ser412 and Ser470, and disruption of these phosphorylation sites impairs solid aggrephagy by hindering Cct2-Atg8 binding.

Macroautophagy/autophagy is essential for maintaining glucose homeostasis, but the mechanisms by which cells sense glucose starvation and initiate autophagy are not yet fully understood. Recently, we reported that the assembly of a Ca-triggered Snf1-Bmh1/Bmh2-Atg11 complex initiates autophagy in response to glucose starvation. A quiet quadruple revolution has been in the making in systems science with convergence of (1) artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other digital technologies; (2) multiomics big data integration; (3) growing interest in the "variability science" of precision/personalized medicine that aims to account for patient-to-patient and between-population differences in disease susceptibilities and responses to health interventions such as drugs, nutrition, vaccines, and radiation; and (4) planetary health scholarship that both scales up and integrates biological, clinical, and ecological contexts of health and disease. Against this overarching background, this article presents and highlights some of the salient challenges and prospects of multiomics research, emphasizing the attendant pivotal role of systems medicine and systems biology. In addition, we emphasize the rapidly growing importance of planetary health research for systems medicine, particularly amid climate emergency, ecological degradation, and loss of planetary biodiversity.

Increasing use of chemical dispersants for oil spills highlights the need to understand their adverse effects on marine microalgae and nutrient assimilation because the toxic components of crude oil can be more bioavailable. We employed the crude oil water-accommodated fraction (WAF) and chemically enhanced WAF (CEWAF) to compare different responses in marine microalgae (Phaeodactylum tricornutum) coupled with stable isotopic signatures.
