Background: Prior studies exploring the impact of widowhood on cognitive impairment in later life have been focussed on the USA and Europe. We aimed to explore the mediating role of social engagement, health behaviours, and subjective well-being in the association between widowhood and cognitive impairment in the Chinese population.

Methods: We conducted a study on 7796 older individuals enrolled in the 2018 wave of the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Study.

The purpose of this study is to further investigate the relationship between sweetener exposure and the risk of endometrial cancer (EC). Up until December 2022, a literature search in an electronic database was carried out utilizing PubMed, Web of Science, Ovid, and Scopus. The odds ratio (OR) and 95 % confidence interval (CI) were used to evaluate the results.

Article Synopsis
  • * The findings reveal that lipophilic statins significantly decrease PCA incidence, particularly in Western countries, while hydrophilic statins show no notable impact on PCA incidence.
  • * Both types of statins improve prognosis for PCA patients, with a more pronounced benefit observed in Eastern populations compared to Western ones, indicating that the effectiveness of statins may depend on their chemical properties and regional factors.

We report a transition from homogeneous deformation to localized densification for nanoporous gold (NPG) under compression, with its solid fraction (φ) increasing to above ∼1/3. Results obtained herein suggest that this transition is inverted compared to that of conventional porous materials. Consequently, under compression, the low-density NPGs with φ<1/3 showed evident strain hardening, whereas a stress plateau was observed for high-density NPGs with φ>1/3, which is contrary to the established notions for conventional porous materials.
