Multivariate Analysis on Orofacial Odontogenic Infection in Northern Peninsular Malaysia.

Purpose: This regional 2-center study was designed 1) to analyze the clinical features of all patients with odontogenic orofacial infection as per type of visit, 2) to analyze the clinical features of diabetic patients compared with nondiabetic patients, and 3) to identify potential variables that may associate with long length of stay (LOS) of patients admitted for orofacial odontogenic infection in Northern Peninsular Malaysia.

Patients And Methods: All adult patients with orofacial odontogenic infections who attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Department of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim from March 2015 to February 2019 were included. Data on patients' demography, medical history, smoking status, clinical presentation, and LOS were collected.

Unilateral Zygomatic Complex Fracture - A Comparison Between Nonsurgical Treatment and Surgical Treatment.

Background: Medical advances have enabled zygomatic complex (ZMC) fractures to be treated by various approaches. This study aims to analyze the demographics and treatment outcomes of unilateral ZMC fractures, treated nonsurgically or surgically.

Methods: This 5-year nonrandomized prospective study had included 65 cases of unilateral ZMC fractures from October 2014 until December 2019.

Multivariate analysis on unilateral cleft lip and palate treatment outcome by EUROCRAN index: A retrospective study.

Objectives: This study is to evaluate the dental arch relationship and palatal morphology of unilateral cleft lip and palate patients by using EUROCRAN index, and to assess the factors that affect them using multivariate statistical analysis.

Method: A total of one hundred and seven patients from age five to twelve years old with non-syndromic unilateral cleft lip and palate were included in the study. These patients have received cheiloplasty and one stage palatoplasty surgery but yet to receive alveolar bone grafting procedure.

This condition that affects the feeding and possible airway obstruction do not only worry the parents, but also possesses as a great challenge to the surgeons. White-eyed blowout fracture: Diagnostic pitfalls and review of literature.

White-eyed blowout fracture was first termed by Jordan et al. in individuals sustaining a blow to the periocular area and presenting with ocular symptoms, although with minimal soft tissue signs of trauma. It is often found in pure orbital floor blowout fractures among paediatric patients, and it could manifest as a linear or hinge-like trapdoor deformity.

An investigation of the effects of the MEK inhibitor U0126 on apoptosis in acute leukemia.

Blockade of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK1/2), part of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) or p44/42 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway has been shown, in some instances, to cause apoptosis in leukemic blast cells. However, studies are contradictory and have often been based mainly on inhibition of cell growth in a limited number of cell lines. This investigation examined the effect of the potent MEK inhibitor U0126 alone and in combination with Ara-C on apoptosis in acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML) cell lines, patient acute leukemic and nonleukemic samples.
